I setup xTeVe and Tivimate today and I had everything working fine up until I added the VPN. I assume this is because Tivimate no longer thinks its on the LAN? Is there any way to solve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I took a quick look at xTeVe and it looks like it's something you host locally. Most VPNs will block LAN connections and force all connections through the VPN. Look into your VPN settings to see if there's something you need to change. Here's an example article from PIA.
If you provide your VPN client I can help further.
I had a similar problem and solved it by installing the VPN on my router.
You need a VPN and router that support this and a router that can decrypt the traffic quickly enough that performance doesn't degrade.
You are correct. You could enable restreaming on xTeVe so that the stream funnels through xTeVe instead of straight from your provider. Disable your VPN in Android and enable it on your server running xTeVe. Most VPNs allow LAN traffic so you'll still be able to connect to xTeVe from TiviMate but your IPTV connections from xTeVe to your provider will be through the VPN.
