Enigma2 vs android box

by damo-10

Hello first post here please dont judge im kinda new, ( be gentle) i am wondering what is the better iptv streaming device as i currently have a 2nd gen firestick. I am looking to upgrade the options are Nvidia shield tv or zgemma hs2. What device provides a better streaming picture and is more stable. I currently believe the iptv service i use is very good just the picture kinda judders almost like a framerate drop specifically on sly sports during live sport. wondering if this is down to the device or my tv ( hoping device) my tv is a phillips led 55inch 4k.

What is the difference between an android box and an enigma2 box?

Thanks in advance

From experience, I'd go the Nvidia shield route. Currently use a fire stick and an app and it's absolutely suitable for my needs, and portable when. Going on holiday😆

I did have a Zgemma H2s box from the old card share days, and while it did work with my provider I found IPTV on it to be a ballache on it, especially vod, navigation was a tedious process.

Shield hands down. More versatile.

I have both. I use the enigma2 because my dad still wants to watch alot of the FTA channels on sly. Enigma2 devices can be quite fragile though. It took me a while to find the right settings for my zgemma h5.2tc - I'd advise the following.

  1. Use jedi maker xtream to generate your bouquets. Leave the stream type as TS. Switch between dvb1 and iptv4097 as the player type to see which one works best. On my box iptv4097 works fine but on my sisters the stream stops after a couple of minutes so I set hers to dvb1. This causes streams to take a second to load but eliminates most glitching and sound syncing issues.

  2. Try to install openatv from scratch. And then install plugins like epg import, autobouquetsmaker, and use a stock skin like metrix HD. If your box is older like mine don't use FHD skins.

  3. Use xtreamity by kiddac for everything other than live channels (I think it's in the openatv feeds now) it's pretty lightweight and makes vod/catchup 10x easier to use.

  4. Try to incorporate a vpn. On enigma2 devices I wouldn't recommend installing it on the box if its too old. Unless you have a plugin provided by your supplier. I had to install myn on my router.

The enigma2 offers the nicest experience similar to a cable or sat box. Also the EPG integrates nicely. On the downside, Catchup doesn‘t work as well (unless you use XPTO‘s Heinz plugin) and the VOD experience isn‘t ver good, either. Having said that, getting everything to work and keeping it that way requires quite a bit of knowledge. The easiest alternative that offers a very good experience is Tivimate on an Android device of your choice, such as a Firestick 4K.

I think the shield is the best option, I am waiting on a Xiaomi mibox s to try, but it is coming from China and has been in transit a long time now.

A 4k firestick is very easy to use. Some devices will not play well with Netflix if you use that service as well.

I have always has enigma2 devices & bought mine from world of satellite. It came pre-installed with Openvix. Install Suls plugin & with a bit of know how, it works perfectly.

Read this some years back. Joined one of them, have no vpn & have no issues. "Easy solution for UK users, avoid the big 6 isp's. Go with a quality ISP like Idnet or AAISP. Both refuse to censor anything, both are committed to not throttling anything. With idnet or AAISP you'll never need to use a vpn with iptv (and they are likely to be faster as well)."

Hi. I just put a order in for a Xiaomi box and it will come tomorrow. And im thinking about getting into the IPTV-stuff again. Anyone tested IPTV with the Xiaomi box? EPG and M3U files works without any problems?
Any app suggestions and setups tips would be greatly appreciated
