How much does the streaming device really matter for iptv?

by KingOfMoogles

I'm new to iptv and I have a firestick and a newer Sony Bravia smart TV that runs Android that I've been using for iptv the last few days. I'm using the tivimate app on both.

They both run it pretty well but every 20 minutes or so then I experience some buffering and then it continues to work for 20 minutes then buffer and so on.

So I'm curious if a more powerful streaming device (Nvidia shield or firestick 4k) would bring a smoother experience

Edit: Thanks for all the replies and suggestions people. On my firestick I uninstalled a few apps I don't use and cleared the cache on all the others, no buffering or issues today.

On my Sony smart TV I connected an ethernet cable and so far so good but I haven't watched as much in there today so I'll be in wait and see mode for the time being.

I use 4K firestick over WiFi and get no buffering. Make sure all your apks are closed in the backround and clear all Cashe in all apks. Buffering can also be affected by ur internet speed. If ur internet service is slow I would recommend u upgrade ur internet plan. And finally ur iptv provider could be the issue. Hope this helps.

Anecdotal but I used to use the smart IPTV app on my LG TV and would get a lot of buffering. Since switching to Kodi on a PC I get no buffering at all so in my experience it does make a difference.

What is your ISP , do they throttle your connection and have you checked your connection speed during those times ? ? I would use a VPN to minimize the throttling . If it’s on some channels it could be the source. If all channels are buffering and the support site has lots of complaints it’s their server, if there are no complaints, it’s your ISP.

so my experience is this...... i have iptv smarters pro on my samsung smart tv using 4k firestick.my internet speed is 30mbps. I get buffering 2% of the time.i also have a family of 5 who all have devices running on the internet, so im lucky to only get buffering 2% of the time.i am also using vlc media player with smarters pro, picture quality is ridiculously good!!! I have a netgear 2700 wifi extender in use as well.hope this helps!!

Not alot. As long as you have a quality device most streaming apps run pretty much the same when navigating tv menus...

As for channel quality, they will likely be identical.

Dedicated iptv boxes do have the benefit of having proper remotes, and have a much more streamlined UI geared towards watching tv.

I used a firestick for about a year but for the last several years I've used an Nvidia Shield. Its like going from a Yugo to a Cadillac.

Matter immensely. Apply TV is the best I’ve had. I’ve had many many android devices.

I cannot believe people have newer tvs and use cheap firesticks .
