Shield any day of the week. You're paying more for decent hardware and up to date Android. Formuler boxes are overpriced underspecced boxes. You pay for their proprietary software. Just get IMPlayer on your shield and it will cover all your IPTV needs.

If you want to save money Amazon Firestick 4k is the best bang for buck option.

Formulers proprietary iptv app is fantastic, but other than that it’s just a somewhat crappy android box which won’t even give you HD Netflix. Shield will run anything you throw at it.

I will vouch for the shield. Been using it for two years with my service and it works perfect. Still as quick as it was to start with.

I guess it depends, if you just going to use it for iptv, the formuler. If you want to also be able to have Netflix in HD or prime.. Disney plus etc. Then go for the shield. Even though, I personally think that the shield it's overkill and over priced just for that. If you want gaming then go for it. But if you just streaming go for a different Android TV box that's certified. 2 years ago I gave up on Iptv and cheap Chinese android boxes. So I bought a Jetstream, a Mi Box and a firestick 4k later on. I got rid off the MI box bc there was always something wrong with it. If you search or just look around.. You would see what I'm talking about. So I kept the Jetstream and the firestick. I would really recomend the Jetstream if you can get it. It was around 60 bucks when I got it and I never had an issue with it. Other then I could get prime to work but Eventually did. But anyways, I hope that helps. That's my personal experience.. That's what I could get with my budget. Also the firestick it's awesome too, after I got rid of the Launcher and made it work and look just like a regular android tv box.

I have both and I would have to say Nvidia Shield hands-down the formuler is a nice box but ever since Tivimate was created there's no need for formulers my TV online app also I own a Xiaomi Mi S box and for the price point it is a very well priced Android TV device that does most of the things of the shield can do other than high-end video gaming they're launching their version of a fire stick sometime this month for 39 99

I have both and have found myself going back to my Formuler z8. Until tivimate or IMPlayer implement local timeshift, nothing is as close to a "cable like" experience as a Formuler (pause - rewind - ff live tv).

Honest truth, the shield has been #1 box since model 1. For IPTV yeah its an overkill, however, it's robust hardware with great support from the manufacturer. There are people still getting replacements from their model 1's. The new remote they got is fantastic, I use it for home automation and its perfect. The out of box support for apps is phenomenal let's face it, not all IPTV providers provide everything. You will still have Netflix, Disney, Hulu, or any other app on the side. Plex for VOD I mean...you can't go wrong. Devices that I would recommend even if you're just still cutting the cord, Fire Stick, Tivo Streaming Stick, First stick 4k. At the end of the day, your IPTV provider is what counts. Can make the device feel shitty or phenomenal. IMS is the best thing out there. Stick with a provider that offers this type of service and you are good to go. Play, FF, RW, Record.

Formuler for Iptv and Nvidia shield for Apps. If you just need for iptv then get a Formuler.

With absolutely no doubt shield and you can use it to stream the most popular games without flaws .

As someone who just got a Z8, I say get it. I personally don't use netflix or any paid streaming services, but this box runs the vast amount of free VOD apps perfectly. Paying a premium for a shield then having to pay for the full version of apps like implayer isn't worth it IMO.

why are these posts even necessary at this point? the people that continue to ask the question are incredibly lazy and can't be bothered to go back a page or two to see this asked multiple times. this gets asked several times a week and the answers are always exactly the same. I wish the mods would do something about it. sticky a post or something.

Formuler hardware is inferior to Shield. Most people buy it for MyTVOnline app. Since iMPlayer has all the features of it, Formuler become grossly overpriced for its hardware specs. I’m speaking from my experience.

Buy both and sell the one that you don’t like! To be serious, I really like the z8. I own four of them now.

I have 3 Shields(different models) and they are really dope for streaming, gaming etc. In terms of power and performance, nothing compares to the Shield. However, I also have the Z8 and MOL2 that comes with it is the most polished app for IPTV as far as I am concerned. I also run Tivimate and some other iptv apps on the Z8 without issues. Local timeshift and cloud timeshift(catch-up) means you can pause rewind and ff live TV. If you wish to get a device for strictly IPTV, the Z8 is definitely an excellent choice but you also still can’t go wrong with the Nvidia Shield

I've used a few of devices, but Formuler is the best.

After much debate I bought the Shield and haven't regretted it one bit. It's a wonderful device.

Never used the formuler8 but I bought the shield and it’s amazing fast

I have had both, Shield TV tube and a Z8. They are as far as price is concerned similar, with the Shield just a little more expensive. The Mytvonline2 that comes with the Z8 is a finished polished app with great features. The Shield running Implayer full version is definitely got the edge. Some false claims that timeshift is not on implayer need to be dismissed, it works great. The implayer dev is working hard improving the app with updates every week. If you have had experience of the app from months ago you are comparing apples and oranges. For me the Shield wins.

I recently bought a Shield TV Pro (2019) about 2 months ago. Best iptv box purchase I've ever done. This thing does everything right. So I recommend it.

Formuler. Way better for iptv considering that's what the device is made for... Meaning the whole tv experience is more like actual cable or satellite tv than running a janky tv system with a 5 button remote and 3rd party apps.. Formuler is just much easier and natural to the every day tv watcher than anything else out there.

Sheild is a higher spec box for sure.. and can play some games better because of this... but i will say GeForce now works just the same on a formuler z8 And cloud gaming is the future. Those overkill-specs are pretty much irellevant with any streaming app you can throw at it though.

As for the streaming apps mentioned that Sheild can run that formuler can't... let me insert a snarky sheldon cooper meme here.

Update: Formuler just added Widevine L1 DRM, so they can play all those apps too now

Well if you get a shield for iptv your using the 3rd party apps

And its not the best

But for iptv ths z8 is the best.....you can do simple things like the last 10 channels you watched You can scroll threw epg page at a time not one line at a time

With the Shield you'll be ready for tomorrow. You may change your mind later using it as an IPTV box only. Once you realize just how versatile, robust it is you'll want to make it an all-in-one. I have a Pro, and, 2019 (cylinder). But I also have 2 4k FS for my other TV's that I don't use as much.

I own both. If I were considering buying a z8 right now I'd wait a couple more weeks for the new formuler model release. That being said I do love both. Z8 in the living room and shield down in the theatre room.

Why ? Linux Stalker is much more stable and reliable platform for a bunch of reason.

These are the two companies who spent time building an Android STB app that works Unless you are using Mag or Mag Hybrid box

Buy Shield and install implayer app to get formuler like experience for your iptv. Do note that you will not get formuler like remote experience on shield.

Get the sheild they have the app now formuler uses. It's called implayer. So there no need to get a formuler box now. Buy the app for the sheild and your good to go
