Are all IPTV provider streams delayed compared to official streams?

by Broman400

Currently have an iptv sub and watching a few channels I see it is maybe a minute behind slingtv. Was wondering if this is only my sub or most iptv?

meviman

Iptv is always delayed because it is streamed from the original source.

I have some channels that are about a minute or two behind, but they work flawlessly, so it is just a minor annoyance for the price.

Yes best I have seen is smooth at 10-20 seconds behind.

cteq1

Yes, as mentioned above also the time taken to and from server

Cloveskat

More than likely just a delay in the way it's being distributed through the network.

Official streams can be 10-20 seconds behind themselves but yes they are delayed even more by provider depending on server location and latency.

Slightly, yes

Yes, the larger "official" outfits stream by satellite downlink. The "unofficial" ones restream what the official ones are getting, hence the slight delay (or larger delay if they do some additional buffering, such as the larger sporting events).

It's the live events where it is most noticed but unfortunately that's the minor trade-off.
