Thoughts on VPN?

by dnegro_

What wifi speed is needed to run iptv smoothly?

I also read using a VPN could help fix buffering, is there any truth to this?

My firestick runs at 56mb with no VPN and buffers quite a bit..

I set up my own account so it’s not through a third party, I’m still learning how this stuff works.

I’m in Canada and my provider is Rogers.

Thanks in advance.

Surfshark is unlimited..and doesn't seem to throttle the connection as much as NordVPN for instance... cheaper too.

If it buffers with a 56mbps connection speed and you have a good connection, then it is either the IPTV provider, or Rogers is throttling you.

I'm currently using mullvad servers are insanely fast at connecting and speeds are good enough for 1080 50 streaming

Express VPN seems to be causing my buffering issues. Shut the vpn off and the buffering completely stops.

in my case its different , with my cloudspal sub if i use a vpn i get buffering without vpn no buffering at all !

This is Iptv. There is no single best setup. What works for one person may not work for others. This goes for service, ISP, devices, home network, etc. Iptv is all about trial and error unfortunately. See what works for you.

VPN is more for security and privacy vs buffering issues. If you don't care about privacy, then spend the $ on better hardware and see if improved processor speed fixes issue.

I have firestick 4k and Nvidia tube and tube does seem superior, though popular streams at popular times still experience buffering so thats the service vs local network.

25mbps download speed minimum. A VPN usually fixes blocks/buffering.
