Can I encode IPTV streams and be my own better quality provider?

by Super_Govedo

I am wondering, is there a software for realtime encoding of IPTV live streams?

Let's say I have 1080p@25fps stream, can I realtime encode it via my PC and make it 1080p@50fps or even upscale it to 4K and stream it within my local network?

I already have descent PC running xTeVe, Plex and it's being used as SMB. If I can I would like to make it my own encoding machine so I will use my providers channels and encode favorite ones to higher fps or resolution, all in realtime.

I hate 25fps sport channels but I have high bitrate sport channels which is great but if I could encode them realtime to 50fps that would be incredible!

Maybe I don’t understand... but if the original source is a 25fps stream how are you going to make it 50fps? What are you going to add to get the higher frame rate? Unless you’re wanting to speed the whole video up....

CSI style

Usually quality can only go down from the original soirce

This is unfortunately not how it works, if the source stream is 25fps, 25fps is what you’re going to get. Re-encoding it to 50fps isn’t going to do wonders for you, like another post here says, it’ll just give the effect of a video speeded up.

No point in wasting resources in re-encoding a video source for what’s going to be either not worth it or making a video stream worse.

Your tv already does this. They all have for a long time. It's called frame interpolation and everyone turns it off

Look for "smooth motion" "motion smoothing" "clear motion" or whatever in your tv settings.

get a philips tv with perfect natural motion feature. it's doing that, making 50fps from 25fps

Buffering could be an issue .. SVP does conversion , is it as good as Vegas or Premiere which take forever doing it? Being cheaper aswell, good for promtioning"Full HD' on your site...
