Rule of IPTV and VPN

by vallefam

Whats the consensus on IPTV and VPN? Is it a must to have both together? Is it a major risk not having vpn. Im planning on using a tv app however that tvs app market doesnt have a vpn app and no way from sideloading one. Any guidance or suggestions are appreciated. However to be clear I cant upgrade TV or get one of those fancy boxes. Money is tight right now.

In some countries/markets IPTV can be blocked by your local ISP, so using a VPN will get around that.

Install a VPN. There’s a huge crack down right now and your ISP will wonder why your usage is high. Doesn’t take much to find out what it is if you’re not behind a VPN. Express VPN is the best, the rest can cause issues with streams buffering.

Regarding boxes, go for something like the T95 Max+ or X88 Pro X3. They’re cheap on Amazon and will do everything a Xiaomi Mbox S will do but for half the price. The only down side is you don’t get the “full” android experience so Netflix and Prime don’t run very well on them. If you’re solely looking for a box to run IPTV then forget a Xiaomi (known as Mi) or 4K firestick though. Firesticks are underpowered and Mi boxes don’t have Ethernet connectivity - which is the best option to run IPTV.

Go for one of the boxes I mentioned with a combination of 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM. That’s more than enough. Mi box only has 2GB of RAM and 4K firestick only has 1.5GB. This makes a huge difference.

Best of luck!

I would recommend an email used only for Iptv registration..Nothing stopping them selling your details for those spam emails and texts ..

If you are in the US, from a legal standpoint, you would only need to use a VPN if you are watching VOD from the IPTV service. VOD is illegal, live streaming is not. From an internet speed standpoint, of course always use the VPN with VOD but only use the VPN with the live service if you are having buffering issues. When your ISP notices the increase in your network traffic they might throttle your internet speeds, a VPN will prevent this if it happens.

The only time that you would need a VPN for live channels is if your ISP notices an increase in your network traffic, takes a look at your IP address and sees that you are streaming video more than usual. They will start to throttle your internet speed. Some companies even throttle internet speed at high internet traffic times of the day such as when everyone is getting home in the evening or waking up in the morning. You will know this is happening if everything is working fine then out of nowhere everything starts to buffer across all channels. Then you would hook up the VPN and notice channels play fine. I sell a terrific IPTV service that comes with a free VPN just because of this issue. This allows all of our customers 2 keep streaming smoothly, even through ISP throttling and not having their own VPN to combat the issue

No, they can only tell that you are streaming video. And when that amount of video that you are streaming increases drastically, some companies will throttle your speeds. It doesn't matter if it's IPTV or a regular service such as sling TV.

If I use a desktop server to host a M3u link and then connect to that server via a media streaming app to watch streams, should the server be on a VPN or my Roku connected to a VPN?

since my isp (vm) started blocking iptv during football games here in Ireland i was using digibit and it worked flawlessly for a year or so but now it has become completely useless, i'm currently using pia it is also hit and miss and unreliable, very frustrating at times. can anyone recommend a vpn that works for this purpose . cheers

If your ISP is not blocking you, you don't need to use VPN at all.

Nobody will be interested to track you as a customer.

Even though, one Firestick 4K or Xiaomi Mbox S would be lot better solution, instead of using TV application. Those boxes are cheap and you'll have way better IPTV experience with them.
