No UK TV License - Will they find me if I watch BBC IPTV?

by YankeeLimaVictor

Hey guys. I live in the UK, and I dont have a TV License. I have found that BBC has public m3u links for all their channels but they only work with UK IPs. I have tried them on my VPN and they dont work, but they work fine when i disconnect the VPN. (They seem to block all of the major UK VPN providers' ips)

I want to add these channels to my TiVimate, but im afraid that the TV License "Cops" will find me. Is that a legit concern?

EDIT:

Thank you all. I actually have a server in a location that has a valid TV-License. So, what i did was i installed a HLS Proxy in that server (used this one: hls-proxy.com ) , and it proxies the m3u8 streams. This way, as long as i can reach my server, i get the streams. Its working perfectly. I even used m3u4u to merge these channels into my main IPTV, with channel logos and EPG.

I told biased broadcasting corporation around 10yrs ago that i dont watch their crap tv, i get an email every 2yrs asking if anything has changed, tell them NO & get another email say thanks for keeping them informed. I know some people who use iplayer but sign in with bogus email account & use neighbours address to show they have a tv licence, i wiuldnt do that tho lol

Mate. They struggled to spot the nonciest geezer in the world abusing kids under their own roof.

You'll be fine.

You'd most likely be fine, but without knowing exactly what information BBC could get hold of (which they probably nearly never do anyway) through your ISP can't say for sure. Did you search online for precedent?

So, the answer is possibly, but highly unlikely. The only way they can catch you is if someone squeals, or they use their fancy tv finding trucks to pin you down, which they're probably not worried too much about using during a pandemic. Does your house already have a TV license? If it does, you have no worries, unless some lame ass reports you. AFAIK, people reporting, and neighborhood scanning trucks are the only way to get caught.

Realistically though, you probably have about a 0.5% chance of getting caught.

Could you please PM me those M3U links/

I assume they don't have catchup, right.

Now I use Iplayer, I'm not a Brit, so I don't have an address in the UK, much less a TV license, but Iplayer works with my VPN.

Would be handy if I could just add those m3u's to tivimate, so no need to login to Iplayer anymore

You can just register with the iPlayer by using an email that it never asks verify and just say you have one and Boom iPlayer works!
