Am I missing something?

So here’s the deal. I pay for a service (not sure if I can share name). It’s $10 per mo, I use Fire stick, IPVanish, have a 250mbps plan through Xfinity, and use Google WiFi as my mesh router.

However, I get buffering. A large amount during sports. When I use the same provider on my iPhone, using IPVanish on the data plan, no buffering whatsoever. Any advice? Port settings on IPVanish, etc?

My isp when only device connected is my fire stick and is achieving speeds at well over 75mbps. So it seems plenty fast

Are you using their dedicated app on the firestick? I would give Tivimate a try. I've seen some providers have issues with their own apps lagging and buffering.

If your phone is working good, then thats at least a good sign you have a good provider. Also try cleaching cache and restarting your fire stick to see if that gets rid of the buffering.

If you get a lot of buffering during g sporting s Events could be your provider is overloaded in 3pm footie or Monday Night NFL.
Could also be your firestick

Prioritize your mesh WiFi devices, clear the cache on your device and possibly upgrade the device. Also experiment with a different location on the VPN, sometimes it’s just that. Is it better without VPN?

Maybe look down the route of the firestick being the problem??

Thanks for the tips. I cleared the cache for all of the apps on my fire stick, and removed everything except for the stock apps that I couldn’t, and the VPN app, and dedicated IPTV app. I also plugged the fire stick directly into a power source rather than using the TV. This morning there isn’t any buffering. I will look into the Android boxes that are suggested on here. Thanks again everyone

My guess would be the firestick does not have the processing power to run iptv and vpn at the same time.

Phones these days have much better processors than a firestick so that would explain why it works better.

How is the phone using the same wifi as the firestick?

I’d recommend upgrading from a firestick to a cheap android box. Firesticks just can’t handle iptv very well. Standard has 1GB RAM and 4K only has 1.5GB. Go get a cheap T95 Max + or similar with 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM and see the difference.
