VPN to TV only, wired connection.

by Matty96HD

Hello, I have been having issues with my IPTV being blocked by my ISP. I see there are VPN routers available on Amazon for £20-30 but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any in that price range.

I understand networking gear can be expensive and all, and I want to make sure whatever I get will actually work.

My router doesn't support VPN's as it is the provided one from my ISP and a network wide VPN isn't an option for me (personally too as I just dont need it) as I use a different VPN for work and I heard double VPN's can cause issues before.

Also if anyone can or is allowed to recommend a cheap VPN that would be appreciated though I understand that may be against the rules. I currently have a free trial with an established one and see 15 months in around £60 which is fine, but if there is something cheaper that will do the same job then that would be ideal.

Thanks in advance.

A £30 vpn router is no good for streaming. They dont have the processing capacity to decrypt the vpn fast enough to get more than 5 to 10 Mbps.

You need something like an ASUS RT-AC86U

Get a firestick 4K and install a VPN on that. I use TorGuard, who are about the best around in my opinion, and they may be running deals right now still.

You can take that firestick wherever you want then and plug it into any hdmi device.

Edit: I see you said wired connection, but I have a hard time believing your router supports wired only. Surely there is WiFi built in? Previous recommendation stands.

Get an ASUS and install the Merlin firmware which supports open VPN some vpn providers have apps for android tv devices or you can side load them but performance is better from the router
