Help deciding Android Box for IPTV w/option to record

by Kim7Lie

Hey guys. I'm new into this whole IPTV thing but I want to get rid of cable.

For my IPTV it is very important for me to have the ability of recording shows. From what I can find out it seems like you can set up a recurring recording (weekly, which days, times and all that) but it doesn't seem like you can add shows to record like you do on cable. Is this correct?

Also what android box does people recommend? I've been looking at the formuler z8. I only need a box for IPTV and recording tbh and that one seems pretty good when it comes to both things. Or is there anything else I should look for? Netflix, youtube and all that stuff I already got installed on my android tv

Formuler z7+ user here. Great box. Only one with the mytvonline app and it's the best app for IPTV. Looks almost like a normal tv guide you'd see on a Rogers box. Can put an sd card in it for recording

Personally I would avoid the download aspect and just use different apks that give you access to every show within 24hr of it being aired. I'm not sure I can name them in here but feel free to shoot me a message and I can give you a list of the few I use. Downloading is easier for the isp to to track from what I've heard and it make it easier to get a letter in the mail. A VPN can also make that a non-issue but will slow your speed from what I've seen. If you truly want to go the route you stated I would recommend the formuler z8. It's easy to use, has a proprietary app for iptv, and basically functions the closest to a cable box.

iMPlayer is a cracking app for android, great looking interface and can record. If you can, check Emby. This has a dvr function and you can set it to record a single show or a series, you can start watching while it’s still recording too.

Dude. If you’re not going to buy the Nvidia Shield then the only other option (IMO) in the Xiaomi MI box S. Official Google TV operating system (same as Shield) and great performance. Can’t recommend highly enough

Usual Android APK’s for IPTV however I use a subscription service genius TV and the IPTVSmarters app. 6,272 channels.

Z7+ or z8 is what you need

I have had multiple boxes, recently picked up a Z8 after learning about it here in another thread. Absolutely love it - the lower cost boxes are hit and miss some work fine but the duds are duds.

The formuler and Nvidia sheild are the best options out there in my opinion. If you don't care about the gaming aspects the shield brings and just want something reliable for streaming you can't go wrong with the formuler.

Both it toward and the shield being at the top are higher on the cost spectrum. I've never had a shield but my z8 has been well worth its cost. Picked one up for around $140 tax included from Amazon. Would recommend it to anyone.

I have the z8. I've attached a 2TB drive to it through usb. It records, it's a decent box. I just find it a bit expensive. I have a decent sub but not I need to find a cheap soon for my mi box

Hi,

From my perspective I think GSE is the best app for any platform, I have tried many, but on the end GSE is the ultimate , free version has ads, payed version around 5 USD.

Good Luck

X7 or Z8 compared to the T3? The recorder on the T3 found not recipes the whole program of you try to record ahead of time from the guide
