Rebooting Router - Time needed?

by SpiritualWindow8789

Hi,

So, I have a friend who is a subscriber to an iptv provider. The device works really well and he doesn’t experience many problems. The issue I have is, he’s told me in their support chat group that when his speed drops and his device suffers as a result, the support guys tell his to switch his router and his device off for anywhere between 20mins and an hour! I’ve said this is complete nonsense but I just wondered what anyone else’s opinion is. I reckon 2 minutes does the job, what do you think?

all blame your equipment when its the service most of the time

I agree. The "its working fine on our end!" is the answer I always get. Easiest to just blame it in your internet even though your streaming works perfect via Netflix or Amazon Prime.

5 minutes

Absolute rubbish, 5 minutes max is fine

most of the time you can power off and power on again immediately. if you want to make sure all the caps are drained, unplug the device, try to power it on(it will drain the caps), then plug it back in.

Bollocks, one minute is more than enough.

Could reboot needs to be done with 3mins of power off, so it can clear cache, but this was more in the old times, now you don’t need to do this anymore basically

5 mins is plenty of time..... do it maybe once a week
