If not the shield what should i use?

by hopperonfire

Hiya. I currently got a 4k firestick and accoring to my iptv suppli2 they are telling me it ain't fast enough. There is no way im dropping 200 bucks on a shield. So what other options have a got? lets keep it under 100 bucks.

Your supplier is not telling you are truth. 4K Firesticks are more than powerful enough. Clear cache, reboot router, try VPN. Good luck my friend.

Drop your provider.

I second what u/BoltzBux said. The 4K firestick is plenty fast. I use one for one of my TVs, and the other newer TV I use an inbuilt app. Both perform the same. Your provider is feeding you a line of crap.

By chance does your IPTV supplier trying to sell you something?

I have 3 FireSticks and have no issues.

You may need to look for a new service.

Get the new chromecast with googleTV

Buy cheap buy twice. Buy cheap again buy thrice, etc. Or you could buy shield buy once...

The Shield is a great investment, you’ll never have to worry about hardware issues or having to empty cache or router resetting...the new Shield tv is only $150 (USA). I have the first Shield since 2015 and still working better than any 2020 box or stick...little investment goes a long way and peace of mind.

I have a 4K Firestick and a Shield...the 4K works fine as long as maintenance is done regularly with clearing cache and Force Stoping apps running in background and deleting unused Apps to make as much room as possible on device . Also upping your internet speeds with your provider helps a great deal ...was on 150mbs plan and was ok but upped it too 1Gbs and it’s like watching regular TV with zero buffering...so a 4K isn’t bad ...just not great

It would be rare that the device is the issue when it comes to IPTV.

Main issues would come from wifi quality, ISP throttling, distance from the provider, or how overloaded the provider itself is.

Sure some app/roms could cause bugs, but its probably the last thing wrong.

Things to try at home before you go swapping devices

  • Use Ethernet over Wi-Fi if possible
  • Change your DNS to something like cloudflare or google
  • Try the IPTV on your PC/Laptop assuming its m3u based
  • Increase the buffering time if the app supports it

4k firestick is fine. I use mine no issues at all. i even run kodi on it and its all good.

i use mibox

Does netflix & amazon work OK? If so then its not your firestick or Internet provider

I’d recommend trying out a few other suppliers. I have a couple of 4K sticks that are stripped down to one iptv and one VOD app. Perform just fine as long as I do regular router maintenance. I usually cut power to sticks every so often and clear cache as well.

tvnut58

I use the 2nd Gen 1080 stick and it's fast enough so yes the 4k is plenty fast enough. The only thing I can suggest is switching from 2.4 ghz connection to 5 ghz. May be some 2.4 ghz interference in the house with phones etc

Spend the money and get a shield. For me its worth every penny and works flawless.

Device and internet speed help but are not the only 2 factors with having a smooth ride. The other factors are mostly in your control. I'm assuming you are encountering buffering of course.. but this is where having good support is essential to targeting what the issue may possibly be. Of course it is possible your provider is just shit and just not being faithful but he could be telling you the truth that there isn't a problem on his side and he thinks that changing device would fix it(which I doubt would work aside from narrowing down a wifi problem)

mecool km1 is a great cheap box google certified etc pay a bit more for a 2nd gen fire tv box 4k with ethernet port...but to be honest just push the boat out and get a shield pro...you know it makes sense...

Tivo 4K stream at $50.00 bucks is a Firestick 4k killer. Tivo out performed the Firestick 4K in benchmark testing.

I've used a lot of different devices - a couple of generations of Matricom G-box, OG Fire stick, even an Ooya (remember them?). My latest is a new Chromecast/Google TV and I absolutely love it! Buttery smooth on all streams I've used it on, good looking interface, great remote and cheap! Highly recommended.

Edit: Oh and I have an Nvidia Shield TV Tube, which is awesome too but a bit pricey.

raidr1958

Alternative just for the sake of it, Chromecast Google TV, it's a lot faster then the FS4K, and you can control volume etc. I'm running Tivimate on mine.

Costco - Apple TV 4K

What if other housemates are streaming and gaming at the same time. I usally get 56mbps

canopy45

dont be a weenie and get the shield....200 is not bad...the shield u wont get issues...i wouldve loved to try the firestick at some point but i have the shield so no reason too

dabig49

Tivo 4K Stream.... runs same OS as the Shield ($50 US)

all you need is a device with at least 2GB of RAM. If anyway possible hardwire it. can buy an external ethernet adapter for $10-14 to do it
