Firestick 4k vs Fire Tv Cube (2nd gen)

by kenaldoo

Hello, I'm wanting to get either the Firestick 4K for Fire Tv Cube (2nd gen).

The vast majority say to just go with the firestick as they've seen issues with buffering/software related issues on the cube. But, I think all these issues are related to the 1st gen of the cube.

With prime day, the cube is on sale. Which do you think is better for the well this subreddit? Price isn't the issue for me since the sale brings the price between the firestick 4k and Cube fairly close.

Benchmarks put the cube performance almost on par with the nvidia shield only thing I heard it's running 32-bit android but so are all of amazon devices

Cube 2 for sure. I'm going from a 2nd gen box, the 4k stick would of been a downgrade for me.

I’ve got the 2gen cube and although I’ve only had it for week it’s must more responsive and w/ 16 gb seems to be running well, I can use multi view with 4 monitors and all run smooth no lag

Price on the Cube is pretty tempting, but I have a google TV coming today. Kind of over the Amazon UI.

I have been using EMBY on two 2nd Gen Cubes and have had no problems at all.

I chuck a stick in my hand luggage, I probably wouldn't do that with the Cube. That's my only noticeable difference between the two for me.

I've just picked up a 4k firestick today to replace my old first gen one that's getting a little laggy. For £30 I really couldn't complain.

Nothing beats Nvidia shield, had the first version for years now and still works like a charm.

I have the Cube 2nd gen and a big complaint I have that I am surprised that has not been corrected with an update is that some apps on the home screen do not have icons.
