Buffering - configuration and related hints?

by Enought2BDangerous

I have a stable/solid IPTV provider, they're convinced there's no issue at their end.

I use Nvidia shield TV, ethernet connection to internet (70mbps service). I still get IPTV buffering issues often enough to be irritating (no issues with Netflix or other apps used to stream shows).

I use Tivitmate pro but find even if I switch to my IPTV providers native app - same issues, same channels.

When buffering occurs I can jump into a speedtest and there seems to be no issue on speed.

I recently changed routers, no real change.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Start a stream, login to your router and check the resource table. It'll have tcp connections, look for an IP using port 25461. Traceroute that ip and see where the latency is, your side or theirs.

Or do the easy route. First try a vpn, than another provider like the others suggested if still having issues

Saw this in a chat Im in.

The ability of an ISP to change your internet speed on the fly based on your activities is part of what makes throttling difficult to detect.

Unfortunately, most ISPs have started noticing when a user initiates a speed test and stop throttling for the duration of the test. So, the speed test results look normal, but as soon as the test is done, the ISP goes right back to throttling. This is what makes a VPN your best option.

Try a vpn near their servers

If they have LowBW/SD channels try those on your LTE phone without wifi. You can compare if its your isp or their stream. If it does not buffer on LTE then you will need a vpn

This usually helps me figure out where the issue is, so it might work for you?

I open my m3u with notepad++ (or any txt editor will do) on my PC. I locate the channel I am experiencing buffering with, and I open that url (usually ending in .ts) with VLC.

If no buffering exists with VLC, it points me to the other app where I was experiencing issues and keep troubleshooting.

If there is buffering or stuttering with the direct URL in VLC, I usually push back with the service provider with my findings.

Again, not sure if this will help you or not, but thought I would share.

This same issue. Nothing helps

Change the buffer size in playback settings to the second option, either medium or large, whatever the middle option is. I've found it helps a bit with the extra cache
