is there any way to set quality for iptv?

by nickoslp

Hello I have a 4k smart tv and recently got iptv and can run channels in 720p quality with 10mbs connection with no buffering at all but if its 1280 or more its buffering a lot and wont even play for a minute is there anyway to set quality on ssiptv or ottplayer?

First, make sure it’s not your tv that’s the bottleneck. Get a fire stick, for example.

Second, 1280 is 720. Or “HD”. 1280x720. 1280 pixels width, 720 pixels height.

Some “HD” (720, or 1280x720) channels may have a higher bitrate than others.

A “quality” slider on live tv would mean the “provider” would provide transcoding, which is unfeasible, as they have upwards of hundreds or thousands of “customers.” That would require crazy high end and expensive hardware.

It’s probably your internet connection. You could be also throttled by your isp. Try a vpn.

Better with vpn?

No?

If it is your internet connection, as in you just can’t get better than 10Mbps at your residence,

Either choose an IPTV “service” that offers low bandwidth channels, dare I call them SD!

Or

If you want transcoding of live tv, then install emby or plex and the plex or emby server can transcode and offer you a lower bitrate stream. Like 2Mbps at 720p. That’s gonna look like shite on a 65” tv, no matter how many “Ks” it has, but it won’t buffer.

You just can’t run plex or emby on your home network if your isp data is the bottleneck. Get a cheap VPS, ($25-$50/year), install plex or emby and off you go.

I’m aware this is a complete waste of the OP’s time, because he seems to be very new at iptv (and reddit), but heck, I was on the crapper not doing anything, so I hope it helps someone.

Cheers.

75 Mbps for HD content? Whoever told you that. When a stream buffers, most likely it's your apps cache pool getting full or the decoder not keeping up with the bitrate. You should be able to stream fhd with 5MB/s which is 5x8= 40 megabit connection all day no problem. If server is denying requests that is another matter- since your app automatically re-tries you don't see that. Smart TVs are anything but smart. Don't use their inbuilt apps. Get a dedicated android tv box, plug it into an hdmi and see a world of difference. If money is no factor, get the nvidia shield, the gold standard of devices. Or work your way down from there. Try clearing all cache of your app. Try using HW+ decoding, a different app perhaps if your tv allows sideloading. While there are good and bad streams, chances are it could be your hw. Network in urban United States is pretty decent... if you suspect network, get wireshark to troubleshoot by monitoring packets. There could be a million things wrong, at any rate you would have to do some basic diagnostic in the very least to resolve.

1- recommend to get a streaming device as you will be limited with what you can do with a smart tv. 2- IPtv is dedicated servers being reached by your internet so it needs to be solid not fast. 3- the cheaper the service you get the worst it will be ($15/m is norm nowadays, however others will defer). 3- You modify the quality in the app like Youtube, these apps are basic. I use TiviMate app (paid) but still, im reaching a service that their quality cannot be manipulated by us so you will need a solid internet connection to their servers.

You will start hearing this common phrase: do not compare iptv with netflix or hulu or youtube since their content is already there, LiveTV is generated by the second...good luck

Yeah, don’t play Channels above what your bandwidth can handle. This isn’t YouTube TV. There isn’t a quality slider.

There are some providers that offer low bandwith channels. If you are in an area where high speed is not offered this might be the only option. My provider asks for at least 50 to 75 for hd, fhd ofcourse will require more speed. I use app for lg tv even though my internet is 400mb evry other week it will buffer. Solution for me unplug tv for 5 minutes. Somewhere i read that it has to do with cache been stored, idk how true it is but it helps me out for 2 weeks without buffering.
