I'm in the market for a $35-class streamer. It needs to be able to run a VPN and a decent IPTV app, mostly to run live content. We also have an Apple TV, but those don't support a VPN (grr). (I'd prefer a flexible VPN client so I can use my VyprVPN subscription, rather than setting up and paying for an additional one.)
So what should I go for? Fire Stick 4k is on sale, Chromecast is another option, and so on.
Recommendations/opinions welcome!
Can't vouch for the new Chromecast personally but that's the one I'd go for. Having direct access to play store will make things easier!
i have the 4k fire stick and the new chromecast. in terms of vpn and iptv/tivimate performance, I can't tell the difference. They both work great.
Chromecast with Google TV + Tivimate + your choice of VPN.
For me I needed to plug directly in the tv 1amp usb port. Went with firestick 4k on sale. Still need to dismount tv
Shield user here, can also confirm the new Chromecast is killer with the remote. Fast and Android.

I use GSE smart IPTV on my iPhone, but just bought a Xiaomi Box S 4K HDR to use in the main living room
Google TV with Chromecast or FS 4K, stay away from Roku.
