I bought an Nvidia Shield TV, bit expensive but runs everything really well and is very easy to use.

If you want to for something cheaper, I would recommend something with an ethernet connection as you don't want to be relying on WiFi for IPTV streaming etc.

I was in the same position as you were 2 months ago. I decided to get an Amazon FireCube 2nd gen and I LOVE it. Its pretty compact for what its packing.

The best box with best hardware is nvidia shield hands down. It comes with a hefty price tag though. FireCube is like $80 during black friday (at least it was $80 during primeday when I got mine so I'm guessing it will be $80 again). FireCube has specs comparable to the shield.

The most popular "box" is the firestick. Firecube is basically the same with some added features and better hardware. So it's very easy to find tutorials and youtube to look for what you want to do since whatever is done on firestick will apply to FireCube. Also the UI is very intuitive in my opinion.

Personally I would stay away from iptv boxes like mag, Z, and stick with big companies who provide great software updates and bug fixes.

Try an app on your phone 1st, you will quickly realize these dedicated devices aren't needed. A cheap firestick is multi use and is more than you need for iptv.

Another Vote for Shield Pro here... Also get the Tivimate App for the IPTV and you will never want another setup! Tivimate even has DVR support.

If you just want iptv, i personally go with z8 peroid

Netflix works better on Shield and Firestick, then again, most smart TV does a better job with Netflix.

z8 can handle Streaming Cinema HD etc with RD or Premiumize.

Mag is also a solid box for iptv especially 424w3 more traditional interface where z8 more customized with favorite, close caption, you can hide categories, you can do time shift, record with external usb drive, handle Linux Stalker, Ministra, Xtream and M3U.

Mag 424w3 and Z8 use the same Hisilicon chipset makes them special and get very high quality picture.

Is the shield really worth it over a fire stick or cube considering the price difference and if you don't intend to use it for gaming?

If you wanna stay simple with a similar experience to the Magbox, you might consider the Z8 beings your already use to giving out macs and filling out portals.

You can look into this, but don't get a mag box. Apparently they are working with google now, so it's not safe anymore

I have two Fire tv Cube and are working great. I recommend it.

My take, for the same-ish price tags of the ones you name out on your post, go for an nvidea shield tube.

I have 2 shields and a firestick. I fucking hate the firestick. Has shitty wifi and you need to connect a real amazon account with credit card to it.

I have 3 S912 work great.There like 4 to 5 years old work great brought others nothing so far compared to them.There were costly when new 230.00 US but no longer sold too bad.

I have a shield pro too hard to get all set up unless your great at it I not

I just brought a firecube 2 days ago as everyone says they great so ask again in a week or so. It can be run all voice same as the shield but the shield a bitch when you cannot get stuff to load into it like filelinked as that was my buddy so easy to use load.

Also do wire it in that was great advise from Bombeswizzum I so agree but also live in the country so the net is limited at times but 95 up & working with no buffering as I hate seeing the circle of death or however it refer too

Z8 pro is amazing so smooth and feels more like a regular RV package

Definitely take a look at the Tivo 4K Stream...it out performs the Firestick 4K in benchmark testing it is Google certified which means it runs true Android TV. It cost around $50.00 and is the best bang for your buck.

Hi I have my Amazon 4k fire stick in my back room. And my router is in the front room. I can stream full FHD channels no problems. If you buy one on black Friday you can pick them up for 29 pounds. They can be jail broked very easily. Plus you can side load app from your phone as well.
