Two questions about VPNs

by toenailclipping
  1. Anyone in Canada finding lately that they need one? I've never used one, but lately I'm getting a lot of buffering or channels not working. I've tried a bunch of stuff, but can't figure out what's wrong. Wondering if a VPN will help.

  2. I toyed with a VPN before, but it screwed up Netflix for me. If I'm using a Firestick, is there a way to set up the VPN so that it helps my IPTV, but doesn't affect my Netflix (also running through the firestick)?

Some ISP do throttle VPNs by a bit.

Also, I switched from wireless to wired ... and saw a HUGE improvement, I guess there must be interference in my appartment or something.

I recommend ExpressVPN, while it is not free, if you encounter any blockage just let them know and they will first give you an alternate location to use, and then within a day or so they will have the location you reported fixed.

I do not encounter any buffering over my VPN setup.

Some VPN’s usually have a whitelist where you can chose apps where they don’t run if you’re using them. PIA is one.

Nordvpn is working great for me. Also, their prices are pretty good especially when there are promotions. Not having a problem using Netflix.

I have also used Surfshark and it was very good too.
