Upgrading from FireStick

by CiCi-the-dog

I'm fairly new to IPTV and have been using a FireStick with IPTV Smarters. I think I'm ready to upgrade but I'm not really sure which way to go. One option would be an LG or Samsung TV and install an app from their store directly on the TV. I like this because it seems the most straightforward (no extra box and remote). Another option is an Android box like Nvidia.

I 'd appreciate any suggestions that you all might have. Or any advice you wish you had when setting up your system.

Just add TiviMate to your firestick... I’ve been using a 4K fire stick for the last year and a half with the TiviMate app with no problems whatsoever... You don’t need to go and spend a ton of money on a streaming device to get a good experience with IPTV... It’s all about how you set up your device...

4k fire stick + tivimate = all your dreams will come true

Really, the 4k fire stick is a huge upgrade over the previous versions. Dump smarters. It's garbage. Tivimate is much better.

People recommend the shield and i'm sure it's great, but it's way overkill if you're trying to just run iptv. It will work great, but you don't need to spend $200 on a shield when you can get a 4k fire stick on sale for like $30.

Don't bother with the apps that are on the smart TV's as they are not good. No issues sticking with FireStick.

Going with the Shield is a good idea as it is a great device. Also with the Shield Pro you can do so many other things with it such as installing your own Plex server.

If you really want to up your experience I recommend TiviMate on an Nvidia Shield Pro.

U getting a shield to watch iptv? You'd be getting an hardware upgrade but your iptv-watching experience would be exactly the same

Does the new chromecast work with tivimate?

You can go with an Android based TV as well and run any apk you like, such as iMPlayer or Tivimate

Was using firestick 4k all this while but recently switched to newly launched chromecast with google tv. Can now install apps from google play without any back door. Tivimate works perfectly. It has become my preferred way of watching IPTV ( Also if u watch Netflix, get the Netflix version which offers you about $84 Netflix credit, essentially your chromecast is almost FREE)

Can’t speak in terms of what apps to use but for the device itself it all depends on your use case.

If all you want to do is watch IPTV on the device then stay with a Firestick (4K firestick is better)

From personal experience the LG content store is garbage for downloading apps that will run IPTV.

I however did upgrade from a Firestick to a tube Nvidia Shield TV as I watch 4K content from my Plex server. However the tube version of the Shield TV has really bad freezing issues for Plex 4K HDR content due to 2GB RAM and only being 32 bit so I’m switching it out for a Nvidia Shield TV Pro.

I wouldn’t bother going for an inbetween device. Firestick is good for how much it costs if you aren’t interested in other high quality content. If you are get a Shield TV Pro

Surprisingly I haven't heard anyone recommend the 40$ TiVo Stream 4K ?!

First off..it runs official Android TV, is quicker than even the 4K sticks, and has an extra usb-C port that you can use to hook an external drive . That same port can also be used to side load all of your apps instead of having to use downloader and filelinked. You just load up flashdrive with all of your apks, plug it in and go butts.

Basicly it's the perfect balance being better than the 4K Fire sticks and not quite overkill like the Nvidia Shield. I highly recommend it
