What's the best IPTV solution for old people?

by Magyarzz

Hello, I am planning on buying a new TV for my grandmother and also wanted to upgrade her current IPTV box. I currently use a Mag 324 on a non smart TV. The performance is pretty poor and on some days it just seems to not connect to the IPTV Portal properly even though the m3u works perfectly on my firetv stick.

My first thought was to install an app for the new smart tv, but the problem is that she is having a hard time with those interfaces. Since she always has been using cable on non smart tvs and has used nothing else than power on, arrow down/up and the keypad.

Is there a way to make the transition seemless? She pretty much just wants to turn on the tv with one remote and then the channel should pop up with no accidental way to escape from it using the remote(like pressing home button).

I've been looking around for a few days now but didn't find a solutions which really fits. Most of them are like most android boxes with integrated home launchers and iptv apps etc..

Are there TV's which have the ability to play Iptv like normal cable tv, or is a new device needed? Since I didn't decide which TV I am going to buy yet. The mag seems pretty easy to use. But is there a better solution you guys know?

Thank you in advance

Andoid TV works great with tivimate or get a firestick, you can set it to auto boot to the last channel you were on. It's dead easy to learn I got 75 year olds using it fine.

Easiest and ugliest: Mag

Best optimized and polished : formuler z8pro or formuler gtv

Best way is tivimate on a firestick or android tv such as the shield, you can set tivimate to start on boot/wake and have it to switch to the last channel played or to open the tv guide if start on last channel is disabled.

What I am familiar with are the Amazon Fire TV 4K, which worked a treat for me, now gifted to my Daughter. A Mi-Box is also good, about same performance bracket as Fire TV stick, with the benefit, of being Google certified. Some applications require this.

No MAG Box experience - sorry.

If the application, is not going to be hit due to a lack of software updates, then a smart TV might be good enough - in my experience smart TV's don't have good software support, and a short life, regarding updates.

Hope you find a solution that makes you and your Gran happy, old Folks can be difficult to help, as they have a very different perspective on how things should work, and their expectations can be awkward.

Luck, and do let us know, what solution works and why, could help some of us, when we have old folks to help.

Get a formuler they are parent proof. I got my parents 70+ using formulers and they love them I get no support calls. They are just like a cable box pause rewind record is all possible with a usb stick plugged in.

Being of a certain age myself, I find the SoPlayer app the easiest to navigate.

Formuler Z+Neo,. Alpha. Z8pro or the new CC. Pretty much the simplest interface and most cable like feel.

Has a normal TV remote, that elderly people will feel familiar with. The interface pretty much works like regular TV , can be easily set up to launch TV on boot. Plus the marketplace is tailored to relevant apps.

Easiest before you get used to it = iMPlayer

Easiest after you get used to it = TiviMate

Easiest on your phone = OTT Navigator

Most definitely Smart IPTV. Up, down, left, right, enter back and thats all they will need. maybe if they are more capable, function keys also if needed (blue, green, yellow, red) and thats it. Thats why at the end decided to unlock an app by paying because of my old parents. Works on most oses and smart tvs. Unlike other apps siptv is very natural and intuitive to old peeps.
