Best type of Ethernet cable for IPTV

by jakemarks98

I’m wondering what type of Ethernet cable is best for IPTV (5e, 6, 7, etc) in terms of both connectivity (ie, least likely to ‘cut out’) and picture quality (if the cable makes a difference). We have gigabit internet but I’m not sure if that matters or not. Thanks in advance

You’re going to need Monster, super, double, diamond, gold plated, fairy dust encrusted cables. Just $299.99 per meter. You could also upgrade to the Vapor connector for another $199.99 but that’s only if you want maximum visual clarity.

Just kidding. Any functional cat5e or better cable will work.

Whichever one is cheaper. You will not notice any improvement with cat 6 or 7 over cat 5e for IPTV.

cat 6 is good enough ..

Been using IPTV for a couple of years and still can't find a provider who doesnt buffer.

It's a feature, not a bug. Cinema/RD & Youtube work great so its about servers, nothing else.

Basically any ethernet cable will work, provided all wires are connected and continuous.

CAT6 Speed. Because CAT6 cables perform up to 250 MHz which is more than twice that of CAT5e cables (100 Mhz), they offer speeds up to 10GBASE-T or 10-Gigabit Ethernet, whereas CAT5e cables can support up to 1GBASE-T or 1-Gigabit Ethernet.

I wish these sticks/boxes supported poe

If this is a serious question then serious answer.... Cat5e is more than sufficient. TV content providers are barely streaming in 1080p let alone 4k

In that case run Cat6 to get your 1Gb to 10Gb speeds. You're going to be bottlenecked by your internet provider anyways (incoming speeds)

If this is a joke don't settle for less than Cat10b6 wiring with diamond Class250 connectors...

Its a valid question, lots of companies say only the best quality cables give the clearest picture. I remember a few years ago a young Curry's sales assistant trying to sell me a £100 gold plated hdmi cable because "with a cheaper cable the picture would be awful"

Well its not true at least as far a digital cables are concerned. The fact is they either work perfectly or don't work at all. Buy any cheap Ethernet cable and you will be fine.

Buy A Cat 7A Cable and Your Good For Next 10 Years. Higher End Ethernet Cable Will Give u Better and Stable Connection and Better Ping . I Use Cat 7 Cable Since 2015 - 2016 And Worth Every Penny I paid for it .
