If you don't wanna pay for a VPN. Ring up your isp, and tell them that when you are trying to watch live gaming streams and that it is buffering. They should then take the throttle off your account no questions asked. Nothing wrong with trying to stream someone's video game footage

ISPs can tell the difference between "game streaming" and IPTV.
Some ISPs in the UK recently started to block IPTV traffic on Saturdays when the football is on (especially SKY)
So they can obviously tell what's IPTV traffic if you don't use a VPN.
Just change your dns
Most ISPs can see exactly what you are watching. They can tell if it’s iptv without VPN.

This is what I did, I use PIhole on a Amazon light 3 dollars a month, it helps block ads I changed my dns at home to point at my Amazon ec2. Inside the pihole I tell it to use open dns. :)
That doesn't work now in the days of data caps and overage charges.

Maybe you're on a shared bandwidth and your branch of the network is overloaded. Maybe there's a routing issue between you and the iptv servers. There's a dozen more likely situations as to why it's buffering vs you being directly throttled. But you're right, it never hurts to ask, but probably won't do anything
