vpn on smart tv?

by Someoneabove

Hey guys don’t know if it’s a proper fit ... but I think it is. Is there a way to put a vpn on a smart tv? So I can continue on with my iptv provider?

If you have a tv running android tv like sony, tcl, philips etc. you can install any vpn app available on google play store. Most providers have one.

I have one of these plugged into my WIFI router -

It is configured as a second WIFI network with a VPN config built in. It works really well on my TV so that I can get BBC iPlayer, etc. from the UK.

Take a look at what Express VPN offer. Once subscribed, you can either purchase your own compatible Linksys router (what they prescribe) and download their VPN software from their site (straightforward video directions supplied) OR get one directly from them that is already ‘flashed’ (their VPN software already installed). That way, once connected to your VPN router, you can change to any country of your choosing via your browser via ‘www.expressvpnrouter.com’. Moreover, you can also choose your device to stream through ‘mediastreamer’ (with optimal speeds and could also be instantly turned off), thus eliminating the need to always choose a country.

Your provider forcing you to use a vpn?

You could VPN your whole house, just a subnet, or one device if you wanted to...but getting the hardware to do it might not make it worth it. Theoretically, anything with two ethernet ports should do it.

if your smart TV doesn't have any VPN apps in its store you'll have to install it on your router. normally through openvpn on an openwrt base router.

Out of interest what country are you in? And for anyone else who’s seen this and sorted a vpn from the router, is there a way to easily switch country or just switch the vpn off without having to log into the router?
