how do i play hlscat streams on my pc?

Isn't the idea of HLS streams so that you can play them in a browser? To my knowledge you could play them in a browser through use of something like Flowplayer or JW Player?

On further reading, I looked up HLSCat, so they just provide links which you could put into a m3u8 but I see that someone else posted on another thread here how streams stop after 15 seconds they say. It may just be that you get what you pay for.
