few basic questions

by RaNdMViLnCE

hi all, 1st time poster, I've been playing with different IPTV services for a few weeks now, I've found one I like, and I'm ready to start setting it up on some TV's more permanently. , I've had moderate success on 2 Fire TV's, i can view and use the EPG's all well and good enough, but what about PVR functionality? id like to be able to schedule some recordings at times or via its show name similar to an ISP's pvr.

what do I need that will give me PVR recording capabilities from my IPTV service? is there some kind of hardware device that will do a neater job of this and tying it all together to get a working PVR?

any advise would be great!

Cheers.

Tivimate works.

You might want to look into iMPlayer...it has scheduled recoding I'm just not sure how advanced it is

Took a while to get running, but was using tvheadend and plex pvr before my provider went belly up, haven't bothered finding a new one as sonarr and nzbget with plex grab all my shows within an hour of airing.

catch up allows you to go back so many days and watch what as already aired, its not vod service, and more then likely inless you got a different device that allows external storage the firesticks dont have enough storage to record like you want

Tivimate can record streams for you, buy tends to crash from time to time. Smarters also can do some basic recording. From my experience, you cant rely much on catch-up from your iptv provider. Usually shows are missing or epg is wrong.

Best to get formuler box, add usb memory stick or hard drive, schedule what you want to record. Done.

Search google for >Troypoint record IPTV< Never used it myself. There is also A device that can record videos at set time. It is a fancy little box with a capture card. Search around a bit on Amazon. Have fun

I was just searching around and watched two different videos about an App on Play store for IPTV. It will record shows.

TiviMate IPTV Player.

Google it and watch how to videos. Seems to work

You mentioned you have Plex, but don't want workarounds... There's really no simple device to buy and start running from the get go for your DVR needs.

Other than using an Nvidia Shield with Tivimate as already recommended in your thread, there's Plex + Plex Pass for the "Live TV & DVR" function, and finally Xteve (free).

You enter your M3U and XMLTV link into Xteve, and organize your channel order. On the Plex server you set up a new DVR, it will detect Xteve as a tuner, let it scan channels. Now any client that opens the "Live TV & DVR" section can look through the guide, set recordings for New Airings, All Airings, and what not. There's also an option to delete an episode 24 hours after viewing, among other things.

Nothing worth recording anymore, a decent provider would have a catchup section
