xTeVE filtering using m3u4u

by Integdistort

Hello, complete noob in need of some help.

I'm trying to get an IPTV feed through to my Plex server. So far I have secured an IPTV feed, filtered it in m3u4u, taken the m3u and added it to xTeVe. I understand that I can filter it manually in xTeVe, but thought that the m3u4u XML link would do this automatically when I added it to the XMLTV section of xTeVe.

Have I got this wrong? Do I need to manually recreate the filters in xTeVe?

Yeah create the filters for the category you want. Should only be a fee clicks as you likely got rid of shit channels in m3u4u. Remember the 480 limit for plex.

Use https://epg.best They were the first and they are still the best epg service provider and m3u editor. They have features nobody else has.

Many people use it with plex and xteve.

The filters are applied to the .m3u streams. The epg info from the .xmltv is then mapped on the selected channels.

From what I remember, m3u4u only hides channels you don't want, thus still transferring over the 480 channel limit into xTeve. You'll still need to filter it, then in Mapping in xTeve those channels you hid on the website, will not be active by default.

There are other services out there than can actually "delete" channels you don't want. I use IptvEditor which is a paid service, brought down my channels to around 300, downloaded link to xTeve and that was it. Though you already put in effort, so in your case I would just filter it.

If you ever get channels with no audio, but can verify audio indeed works via other means, you'll need to use ffmpeg and add a command in xTeve to convert the audio to mp3. Plex doesn't handle audio streams from IPTV very well.
