Am I expecting too much?

I’m looking at setting up IPTV as a replacement for my current virgin media subscription. I’m looking at getting either nvidia shield, formuler z8 or Apple TV.

I’m hoping to be able to get this set up as a drop in replacement for virgin media, will I be able to set this up so it’s just as easy to watch bbc1 quiz shows as it is on virgin media?

If you want the best in the business and happy to splash the cash for it, get the Nvidia Shield Pro - also great for Plex and retro gaming if you’re into that too. As for the IPTV subscription, I’d hold out on cancelling anything until you find a good IPTV subscription (trial them out before you commit) and don’t forget you’d want to get a reliable VPN too. Cancel your normal subscription packages once you are happy with your IPTV subscription. It is handy to get another subscription as a back up but bare in mind a lot of subs do use similar channel providers at times. I personally only have one provider as I’m very happy with the service I receive - finding a reliable IPTV which provide you with the M3U is a rare find these days!

Having owned a Apple TV, Z8, Fire Stick, Mibox etc; for entertainment bliss, I recommend going straight for a Nvidia Shield.

As for IPTV - My experience differs from other commenters here, my provider and alot of others blow billion dollar companies out of the water, you just need to shop around. I recommend using Tivimate to view your playlist and M3U4U to edit that playlist.

The answer to your question hasn't been answered yet, but yes. IPTV will be a proper replacement for Virgin. You'll still get all of the channels.

One thing I would recommend though, get at least two IPTV subscriptions. IPTV providers aren't billion dollar companies that can promise 100% uptime. There will be issues with either channels or the service itself from time to time. Having a second service to fall back on will mitigate that. Two or even three subs will still be much cheaper than paying Virgin.

I use Chromecast with Android TV, works great.

Re IPTV, my experience: providers who offer like 3,000+ channels usually buffer like hell, providers who ask for 1-2$ a month buffer like hell! it comes down to what you pay!

Good luck.

I just use a Firestick

I have tried many boxes. Best for Iptv are fire stick, fire tv or Nvidia shield. Nvidia is the best in my opinion

I started with 4K stick but love my Cube more. Faster with twice the storage. If you want the Amazon ecosystem, Cube. My friend’s Z8 doesn’t do Netflix (family wants it) in 4K

Make sure you get a VPN! Will solve 99% of headaches you'll run into , seeing as you're in the uk

I use a Nvidia Shield Pro and its brilliant :)

Yes, formuler interface is way better than virgin media's one. Something like a formuler cc model will also give you freeview in case your iptv fails.

There are so many devices out there that are good. Really depends on what you like to watch and mostly how much you wanna spend. The 4K Firestick is the most popular due to it’s price. I have bought them for as low as $25. But there are many that are much better. Go with it’s big brother the Fire Cube. Way better than the firestick and many of the other devices.

Snappy IPTV - it’s a paid app but worth it. It will sync your settings, IPTV accounts, recently watched, etc via iCloud between AppleTV, iPhone, iPad.

Why would you use either of those 2 devices? Fire Stick, Google Chromecast WITH Android, or Shield..

Formuler Z8 Pro is great for IPTV . It's a very nice box . It runs 4k iptv so fast .

4k firestick is more than enough for streaming iptv

Not a straight answer as I am in a different region but:

I’ve had only iptv for the last 5-6 years and I think I’ve had maybe 3-4 major outages of more than a few hours.

I am content to say the least
