Is it possible to just run this stuff on a PC?

by Cheezebaws

Like, I don't have a firestick or a shield or whatever, and feel it would be pointless to buy one as I have a PC connected to the telly anyway - It seems like a stupid question with the answer being "Obviously" but I can't really see anything about running this stuff on anything but firesticks etc.

Just use IPTV Smarters and install it on your pc

Kodi. I've done it before, works fine

I run Tivimate inside the Bluestacks android emulator on my Mac. Works great.

Firestick in 2nd hdmi in monitor is your best bet. Plug in and play. Just too much hassle on PC.

ProgTV is good.

thunderz1337

you can but if youre too lazy to figure that out you could always install bluestacks android emulator.

Habib_Zozad

You'd want to look in to running Android apps on your computer if you wanted to replicate the fire stick experience

tvnut58

Most Iptv providers have a web player option.

aussiemarve

YouTube it there's plenty of videos it's easy you can download a emulator on your computer then download any APK

kingofosiris

Best player.eu is the best windows based player.

Your experience running iptv on a pc is going to be horrible honestly. VLC doesn't have an EPG, ie, no Tv Guide. Running an android emulator will be problematic at best. There are several players that run on the pc but you'll find them all lacking. MyIptv Player will work for you but you probably won't be happy.

I suggest you buy something android that can run Tivimate.

Yeah that's what I do. Your provider will probably get you to download an app to watch it through like Duplex Play

Ott navigator is also a good app for IPTV and ultimate IPTV

upiornik

Yes. SimpleTV should do, it supports almost everything and it's free. link

OR you could just use VLC, but it's not really made for IPTV so it doesn't have many features.

I use emby w/m3u files. Emby has their own EPG sources and I link it to the channels I want. Also has all the PVR/recording ready to go. Beautiful interface.

canukgooner

Im using the new windows Smarters app running with no issues with Xtream code url not m3u, personally I find Bluestacks eats memory, if you want to try an Emulator that doesnt need a ton of memory to run, try LD player with smarters apk or xciptv

Todd_Lancing

Bluestacks gets you the whole android platform. Also a lot of providers offer a web viewer service also, check your service provider emails it's usually in the "welcome to our service" email with all the links.

Basically your better of with a fire stick or Android box these are cheap to buy amazon normally have an offer every few months 20 pound for a new stick

Pjono99

So I have tried them all and there is a PC version of smarters which works well without any android emulator also the prog.tv is good and works well on PC

Direct-Mobile-5315

NextPVR is a brilliant PC browser-based IPTV player, that also has the ability to record.

Cheezebaws

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'll have a look into some of these options.

I have a Dell PC with Windows 10 and BlueStacks to run my Android apps. It is connected to a bedroom 47" TV. Works good enough for me.

fabdeal15

The provider I'm with has their own web player. You don't have to install anything. Just click on the web player link and enter your username and password and that's it 👍 Send me a message if you want to get in touch 👍

that's all i ever use, Kodi + browsing cropped .m3u files (and adding favorite channels to kodi "favorites".) I tried using smarters or some x86 iptv program, but it's like the interface was locked to 1080p and wouldn't fill the full tv 4k resolution.

I run several small computers (Intel NUCs) running kodi on linux. I have a KVM switch running a single wireless mouse and keyboard to select the target box & use the pvrsimple player. I've tried a variety of android STB's from the old MX boxes to Dreamlink but strongly prefer kodi to run IPTV and a selection of video addons for movies and series. I've never tried a firestick since at the time they were considered to be substandard though they are apparently better these days.

FredTilson

VLC? It should be able to play m3u files

Find something with a Kodi addon. It's MUCH easier than people think. Not many companies provid Kodi addons but when they do its super clean and better than pretty much all other options and I have tried them all. If you are somewhat cpu saavy setting up Kodi is not difficult at all.

That being said some iptvs offer WebPlayers as well and that's as easy as loading a url into your browser.

I also have a pc or shield connected to all tv's in my house, as I have a media server. So I understand your pain when trying to find a proper IPTV.
