Android box vs firestick?

by Krimzon_Grey

I'm looking at getting an android box so that a family member can more easily use IPTV , navigate channel listings etc with a remote control via the Television.

Am i better off with using an android box or firestick?

What android boxes do you recommend?

TIA.

Chromecast with Google TV. Cheap and does the job and will get updates.

Don't waste money on a Chinese box that will stop working in 1 year cos they get zero updates.

I would say get a Nvidia shield pro, but unless you’re going to be gaming it’s not worth the extra money… So I would suggest just get a 4K fire stick you can’t go wrong…

Another vote for Chromecast with google tv. Same price as a firestick with similar specs and half the bloat.

Quality - Shield Pro.
Budget - Fire Stick.
I have both and both are excellent. Shield is much more capable though.

Shield if you have money and MiBox if you are on a budget. Mibox works great for my two kids for iptv. Walmart has them on sale every now and then for $29

Kockbite

Tivo Stream 4k.

Is the family member an iPhone user or an Android user?

iPhone - AppleTV (pricey) there are plenty of IPTV apps for the platform

Android - Shield Pro (pricey) but it's a rock solid device with stunning performance. It's more than JUST an iptv player. It's a media center much like AppleTV. Just Android based. My ShieldPro and TiviMate with a solid provider which offers catch-up has 100% replaced my Tivos.

That alone should speak volumes for the capability of the ShieldPro.

TiviMate is a definite must then.

I use an Nvidia Shield Pro and I have a Fire Stick. Both are good choices. Shield Pro if you want to have quality and I agree with Digitalhero_x as I got the fire stick as a budget option before I stepped up to the Pro.

I have been very pleased with my Formuler z7+. Very much a "cable tv" user interface.

Never get a firestick. That's what my provider says and she's never been wrong yet.

If it's for IPTV, then firestick.

I would get an android box if you plan on downloading 4K / 2160p video files to play back

The firestick4k and the new google tv are the good cheap option . Android box is good but not the china ones and they are all from china with some exeptions. Nvidia shield and formuler are good options they all work with any iptv . You just need to google how . M3u or mac or stb for some boxes. Give me your situation and i can tell you how for any boxes. You can find me on telegram as stockerqc .

User friendly/budget: Fire Stick

Bit more to get it working/more storage/more RAM: Android Box
