Channel skipping in VLC and buffering

by redrabbit1984

I'm new to IPTV. Using a Formuler Z8 box. Got a VPN - tried with this and without, no real difference. Bandwidth is adequate.

In VLC the channel will play for around a minute and then skip to the next one. I can go back but it does it again.

Using tivimate, the channel play but then every 40-50 seconds it freezes for a second and then continues.

I've set buffering to "LONG". Thinking that if I set it to buffer a lot of time it may avoid the issue, but it still happens.

Internal networking is good - all connected via ethernet.

Any thoughts here? Provider seem good and receptive. They were recommended but it is my first experience with IPTV. Please DM if you have any recommendations of others.

Thanks

A few more questions:

What is your bandwidth, exactly?

How many connections do you have from your provider? Are you watching on multiple TVs?

Have you tried the obligatory refresh ritual? Turn off modem/router for a few minutes, shut down your Formuler box completely (not just sleep mode), then turn back on?

If all of the above is a-ok - bandwith at 40 or higher with VPN active, you only use 1 connection and nobody else is watching TV at the same time, fresh start on the equipment - then it would have to be your provider that is the problem. Some providers oversell and their IPTV buffers a lot.

Since VLC is skipping after about a minute, and the channel freezes in Tivimate every 40-50 seconds, it points to an interruption in the feed.

VLC will skip when it does not receive a good feed, and Tivimate pauses for the same reason.

I'm about a year in with IPTV and had to shop around for one that I'm comfortable with that has a reasonably steady feed on most channels.

I found that I also had to invest in a good router and upgrade my internet service to 200 mbps to get IPTV to operate without constant freezing.

VLC is my go to for testing because it's just the player and the URL, no additional overhead / EPG to deal with. If it doesn't work on VLC, it's a problem with the provider.

FWIW - some users have experienced improved performance by having VLC as the player for Tivimate. I used it that way for a while, but went back to internal Tivimate player.

I had this happening to me too. Turned out I was doing something stupid having more connections than allowed. It was happening on all channels. I was confused in the beginning. I have a backup provider and that was flawless. So I first blamed it on the provider. And I still do that every now and then, when some channels from the same provider run smooth for hours and some don’t.

IPTVISTA

you have to select the option of auto reply down in the bottons bar and it will work perfectly

Get Tivimate and or IM Player. Simple solution that you won’t regret. Tivimate is the best IPTV Player with IM Player coming in second!
