A lot of people suggest a Nvidia shield to watch Iptv, but what about Google chromecast with android tv? It's a lot cheaper and also works good imo

Google Chromecast with Google TV, should work well enough. Adding a good Ethernet adapter, would improve it somewhat.
I use both and the ccwgtv works fine when you add a Ethernet hub

Tivimate
The main drawback is the lack of media buttons like Ff, Rewind etc. If only they had it! I returned it just due to that as I’m used to stbemu app. Still long way to go to beat a firestick on which I installed stbemu and is using for iptv.
I tested one for work, and the new chromecast was very good. I wish we could get them as an OEM product instead of the garbage we currently have.
I just chose an IPTV service with an apk. Downloaded it to my phone, then used the send/receive app to send from my phone to tv. Used apk installer on tv to install APK.
Done
With that being said. My shield dropped off a shelf a couple months ago and broke. I miss it. It was hands down the best experience I've had with not only IPTV, but Kodi as well.
My android TV is kind of slow and laggy at times. If you have the extra cash the shield is worth it a million times over.
I think it’s a solid device. My only gripe with it, is the remote can just randomly disconnect itself
IPTV Extreme Pro is another good option. It works great if you cast it or if you install it on the CCwGTV.
Absolutely love mine. Zero issues and it's super quick. Runs tivimate perfectly.
Works fine running tivimate over WiFi don't think there's any need for ethernet adapter.
I also have shield in another room using tivimate over WiFi again, wouldn't notice any difference in either device just for watching iptv.
