IPTV Catch-up Slow?

by Bodoct

Was curious if catchup feature is generally slow across most providers? When I try to rewind a few mins, it takes forever to buffer, and when I am in a non live point it seems to stutter more.

I'm currently running my service through tivimate on Nvidia shield, with fiber speeds.

Appreciate anyone else's experience.

I find catchup nearly useless to be honest, for many of the reasons you specify.

Honestly, give a plexshare a try.

You'll get MUCH better content than any iptv provider can ever offer.

Of course, this won't help you if you're trying to use catchup on sports or news or whatever. In those cases, plex won't really help.

But if you're just trying to go back to catch a tv show or movie, you're best to stick with proper streaming services instead of IPTV.

Yes, there is a delay typically. When you rewind, the streaming server has to stop the current stream, locate the new time position you rewound to in the recorded stream file which hopefully recorded without errors and start the process of streaming again. Depending on the hardware in question and what other tasks it's doing and how many other streams it is currently streaming, it takes a bit of time. It's the nature of low cost streaming hardware that is usually overburdened by the providers so they can profit while keeping sub costs low.
