Question about buffering

by allvol28

So I have 2 providers using Tivimate on a Fire Stick 4K. Most channels buffer to the point where they are almost unwatchable. I recently upgraded my internet to 1 GB/s to see if my internet might be the issue. I ran a speed test on my device and I am pulling ~400 mbps on the Fire Stick without a VPN, ~200 mbps with a VPN. Does this sound like a provider issue, device issue, or am I unlucky and it’s an issue with both providers?

You could have a bad path to your IPTV provider. What's the ping like?

You might also try a couple different VPN's with nodes near the provider, not necessarily near you. It might improve the route for you and make the difference, or at least give you more info on the underlying problem.

If clearing cache doesn’t do it;

Disconnect fire stick Pull power from tv Reboot router

Reconnect tv Reconnect firestick

Just a suggestion I would try different player, and or different locations on the VPN. You also could try hot spot from your phone. Hope this will help determine your issue.

This is something you should be asking your providers, assume they offer support. If you’ve got a good provider, they’ll be best able to help fix your issues. It could be a lot of things. VPN issue is possible, change the location. Try a few locations to see if it helps. Your download speed is more than good enough, streaming really only need speeds of 10mbps or better. If you’re getting good speeds then it’s probably not your modem or router. Check the ping as well, run a speed test, those usually check ping which is basically how long a signal takes to bounce back to you.

Does your isp and or router have there own built in firewall if so turn them off

I have found that 35Mbps is enough for my service. I normally have about 200Mbps so no issues in Bangkok.

You may also want to try it on a different device to see if that’s the issue. I always had buffering on my firestick, but my laptop on the same wifi was fine.

KegTapper74

How much storage space do you have left on your stick?

I had buffering on my firestick on multiple channels. I turned on my VPN and it didn't buffer the rest of the night. For $30 for a year subscription it might be worth a try.

So what I’ve done so far:

  • Tried UK and Australian connections on VPN (not sure where the servers are located so I tried both) - provider 1 still buffered, did not try provider 2

  • Cleared cache on Tivimate - provider 1 still had issues, have not tried provider 2 yet

  • Tried both providers on my mobile phone (GSE IPTV app) on mobile data, since I don’t have hotspot- provider 1 still buffers, provider 2 works great. So think it might be a provider issue here

Will edit with any updates

Edit: provider 2 seems to be working ok on Tivimate after cache cleared

Edit: Provider 1 still buffering, but seems to be a provider issue. Thanks for all your help!!!

Edit: Should clarify, I cleared cache, unplugged router/Tv/Fire Stick and plugged back in. Not sure which fixed it
