Question about purchasing multiple connections

by marwonnn

If I buy multiple connections, can I use one of those connections in another household simultaneously? Thank you

ask your provider what the rules are, every service is different.

Depends on the provider ( we don’t discuss any providers here.) Some are Ip locked. Ask the provider. some will cut your account if they find you sharing with another household, some won’t.

I have a 5 connection account and of course won't name... but I wonder how any provider could lock you. You have to provide IP address with your acccount? My provider just gives me a username and password an only cares how many connections at the time. Cut the cord about two years ago and couldn't be happier.

I mean I connect at home or could have family watching TV at home but I when I am out of the house I love being able to pull up my player on my cell phone or on my iPad or laptop with my MIFI or on my work WIFI or when I am traveling and using a friends wifi at their place or when I am at a hotel using their wifi. Reporting IP all the time would be a pain. That has been the main advantage of "cutting the cord" for me.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I asked my provider and they said they do not ip lock, but advised I stick to one household. Is there still a way for them to check if I’m using the service at 2 locations?

It all depends on your provider. My provider allows me to install the service on as many devices as I like with no location restrictions but if I exceed the five active connections I pay for I will get cut.

I'd steer clear of any providers that would ip lock your account. This could be a huge pain even if you decided to use VPN on some of your devices but not all of them for whatever reason.
