I have been using VLC to view y M3u files it was Ok but a friend using SM player told Me he had much better with it. I installed it and after trying it will never go back to VLC . Far fewer issues and like VLC its a free download

SMplayer is my default for everything. However I do keep VLC around for the rare time I find a video encoded with AC3 audio. SMplayer won't play this audio format.
