trying to acquire EPG; m3u playlist imports 127,000 channels?

by canadave_nyc

When I use my IPTV service, the channels are all nicely grouped by country mostly, as well as some categories within countries (i.e. US - sports, US - entertainment, etc). But, of course, many of the channels (particularly foreign channels, but also North American channels) do not have EPG data.

I figured I'd try to use xtream editor, which I've read is good for EPG. I can import the m3u file into xtream editor and it shows up in the M3U List section of xtream. However, when I click on it, it shows just a totally ungrouped list of channels, all 127,000 of them (which includes all kinds of VOD channels as well). There's also more than 1,000 "pages" on xtream's editor for setting the EPG ID. So, it would take me months to manually set up EPG for these channels.

Am I doing something wrong? This is my first time using IPTV and using a service like xtream editor, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be seeing.

Delete that and add an api line.. It's way better.. From there you'll be asked which groups you wanna keep and you go from there.. Once you have the groups you chose you can disable the channels you don't want.. Api is way better than adding the m3u line
