What broadband speed do I need to stream 4k? UK

by clockface99

Looking to jump to Virgin and not sure between 100 or 200Mbps. Any advice please?

I have 30mbps and stream 4k Netflix fine. 100/200 both would be fine imo.

Unless you're wanting to stream 4k BR rips.

100mbps is more than enough.

A single 4K UHD stream normally needs 25-30mbps, so 100 will do fine.

100 is plenty for 4k streaming. Really 50 is plenty.

At least 30mbps, the requirements can differ a bit between streaming services, last time I checked Netflix was around 22mbps

I have 100 Mbps. Streaming 4K on services like Netflix is completely fine. However, 4K channels are a different issue altogether. It buffers a lot.

Hardwired with Ethernet cable is a must firstly if you intend to stream 80gb+ files. Secondly the highest bitrate I've seen is 120mbps for a movie, so give some leeway and it'll be 150mbps safest for a good experience. Another thing is if you intend to stream 80gb+ files you need the proper hardware to do it.
