I have yet to upgrade to a 4K tv and I'm wondering how much of a difference watching IPTV is on a 4K tv versus my regular 1080P tv.
If the 4K upscaling makes a tangible difference on the way the streams look, then I'd be a lot more inclined to upgrade my tv sooner.
My original plan was to upgrade my tv when I got a new Xbox, but they are cunts so I'm not going to pay double the price of a series X as well as spending 1500-2000 CAD on a new tv.
If you need a tv buy a 4k one. If your tv is fine I wouldn't worry to much.
It also depends on what size and how far you sit.
I will say this tho, I have a 50 inch 4k dolby vision blah blah blah and when programs are in 720p or less resolution it still looks great with the upscaling. I sit about 8-10 feet away from a 4k 50inch tv so I don't see much of a improvement over 1080p when watching 4k. The upscaling does help tho with lower resolution channels imo.
Also you don't need to spend that much on a new TV unless you want top of the line, but you can get a really good one for half the price and truthfully you would hardly notice the difference in picture quality unless they were right next to each other.
