Opinions on a Streaming Box

by Horseman-5

Looking for suggestions on an IPTV box strictly for streaming. I don’t need it for gaming. The Nvida seems to have a bunch of features geared to gamers. The z10 pro max seems to have most of the features I am looking for (4K with more than 30fps), lots of RAM. I don’t intend use any PVR features. Fire stick seems okay, but willing to spend more for a decent box. My current box is a Global Media Box and have been happy with it, but want to get a second newer box.

Honestly speaking if you are just using for streaming there is nothing more than you need than a FireStick.

Nvidia shield is the goat of all streaming boxes

I have the Shield as my beast in my master bedroom and the Firestick 4K Max for my living room and guest bedroom.

I really like the GTV also. love the built in chromecast

Formuler boxes are great. Their MyTvOnline 2 app is amazing for IPTV.

I hear the onn box is good as well. Can get at Walmart for around 20. Runs full android.

Get the formuler gtv it's better then the z10

Firestick 4K Max is best bang for your buck. Sports wifi 6 and faster chip. I also use the Firecube cable connected. Handles Atmos very nicely. Shield has more features but also a huge step up in price. I use Smarters Pro

Get a fire cube. A Shield just for IPTV is a waste of money.

downvotes from shield owners, not surprising. You spent over 200 bucks for iptv streams lol.

I would suggest that you definitely purchase something that is Google TV certified like the Shield Pro, GCCGTV, ONN Android Box from Walmart, Tivo 4K Stream, Mi Box. These boxes at least will receive Android updates for a few years, and use official Google TV, unlike cheap Chinese boxes that I would stay far away from. I don't recommend Fire devices, not because they don't perform well, it's just that junk GUI that bothers the shit out of me.

If you’re looking for performance the Apple TV 4K is the most powerful streaming box processing wise by a lot.

Very happy with my Chromecast with Google TV and Onn 4K box from Walmart. I replaced Firesticks with these and they both work great for streaming. The Shield is definitely overkill.

dilpreet83

Firestick 4k max is perfect.

Mibox is just fine for streaming. I have one Shield and 2 Miboxes. I never update them and only use tivimate. I also use (lightly) a 4k firestick and it seems fine so far.

Nvidia Shield is the gold standard, and is not likely to be eclipsed soon, given the high-performance programmable hardware. But it's priced accordingly.

Though a recent FireTV 4K is competent too, and much more affordable, to the point you could upgrade to the latest version a few times if new codecs come out, and still be ahead vs. the cost of a Nvidia Shield. Heck, a replacement Nvidia remote is in the same ballpark as a FireTV 4k stick on sale.

We use a couple of Nvidia Shields as daily drivers, but also have a FireTV Stick for use in a hotel TV when traveling. The stick itself works great, if there are problems it's usually the hotel's naff wifi.

I use the GoogleTV with Chromecast.

Brilliant device, a 4k Firestick would work perfectly fine too

busabasher

I have t95z and Firestick

Firestick handles it with ease.
