Tivimate on Nvidia Shield or Philips TV?

by i7core

Hi,

Using the app Tivimate for IPTV, does anyone know if nvidia shield would work better (better quality, less lag, smoother) instead of my TV (Philips OLED706)? I sometimes feels it lags when using the app from the TV.

The IPTV service is fine, because no lag when streaming from PC.

Edit: Using wired network

Thanks!

Yes it would.

Your tv only has 100mb network interface, the shield has 1gb.

i use it on a shield and a sony bravia, both are fine.

Yes TV SoC is weaker than Shield , UI and navigation would be slower, but actual playing back channels make no difference.

The upscaling on the shield is amazing. I have Tivimate on a couple of firesticks and the shield and I am blown away at how much better it looks on the shield.

Yes, absolutely.

Many TV's have very limited WiFi speeds.

My shield easily plays 4K content where my TV app struggles.

Shield all the way all day everyday. Don’t get any better than Shield

I have the same TV. Honestly used to worship the Shield & I have 4 of them in different rooms.

But I have found in the last 6 months it's a bit buggy. I can stream native 4k from a Plex server on the TV better than I can on the new shield with a wired connection. The TV is faster at buffering and never freezes.

Not saying the TV is better, clearly the shields internals will be superior across the board, but if you don't have a shield, id try the TV first.

Shield would definitely be overkill unless you already have one laying around. If you run a speed test on your tv and get 20-30mbps, that is more than enough for IPTV, it's not like you're watching any streams in 4k. If there is lag or buffering in your streams it could just be your ISP, make sure you run a good VPN to avoid that.

Thanks all. I might give the shield a try.

Thanks for introducing Tivimate. Found it better than Kodi with PVR simple client kept stopping trans. Using it on Philips TV with wired network.

Guys, stupid question but there are several apps coming up if I Google tivimate which one is the legitimate version? Thanks
