Yes 100%. Wasted so much money trying different firetv devices. I just upgraded to Nvidia Shield. What a difference!

The main things I'm grateful for with the shield over firestick is:
Ease of sideloading apps if necessary,
Ease of apps that let me send keyboard text to the device,
An interface that I can control and remove ads (with a launcher),
Plays anything without struggle or issue.
For sure, I started with a FS and only used it for PPV’s (had Satellite) and always seem to have issues with buffering and lag. Got a Shield Pro and (kept same providers) and I was able to finally enjoy PPV’s and actually canceled my satellite. That was almost 3 years ago. Best streaming decision I made. I know everyone has issues with the price as did I at the time. Then once you use it you start to see why it’s the best device out there. Hope this helps in the decision.

I have a fire stick and a shield pro. I use these mainly for iptv and cinema. What else is the shield pro hood for? I hear so much good things about it but what is it that is does better? What else can I do with the shield

I use Shield Pros as my primary two devices. They are great but I have to say the new 4K Max Firesticks are damn good for 1/4 the cost. The advertising and lack of the play store are a little annoying but the performance is excellent and they have WiFi 6 (Shields do not).
I think you win no matter what but they both have their merits. Older firesticks (especially the non-4k ones) are underpowered. Get the 4k Max if you can deal with sideloading and ads. Spend extra for the shield if you cannot.
The 4k Max is newer than the fire stick 4k, has WiFi 6 and a significantly faster (40%) processor than the fs 4k. The speed difference is very noticeable to the point that certain apps work better on my fs max than the shield (NFL app). Extra storage and Ethernet can be added to the firesticks using hubs but come natively on the shield pro. The cost of the bump up from the shield to the pro covers the entire cost of the 4k max.

There is nothing better for IPTV. I have Firecubes. firesticks, fireboxes and Nvidia Shield blows them all away. I have 3, and if one broke, I would replace it immediately.

I'm certainly jaded, and it's difficult to say yes. Paramount+ and HBOMax have weird sync issues if youtube was opened prior to launch, even if they're forced closed. If youtube was opened, I have to restart device. I can't figure out what is going on with it, and I love it to death, but... I dunno... I love it but falling out of love the longer it takes to troubleshoot the device.
The remote on the new Nvidia is nice. It puts it on par with the fire stick. Direct TV control with the device remote is a huge feature. That being said, for the price, the stick is the best choice.
