Dumb Question

by TheDayMonday

I recently updated my modem, and suddenly my IPTV gets a 403 error. I switched back to my old modem n it works again. In regards to my new modem is there a step I missed? Is it an IP lock issue? My ISP blocking connection via the new modem? Some setting issue? Please help

Some ISP's have a 'safety' setting built into their new modems, which can be disabled.

Google for it with the name of your ISP and the terms how to disable security lock or something like that

You use a VPN?

I would recheck all the settings on your Modem /router and maybe compare the settings in the one that works ok to the new one

By any chance does your IPTV provider lock subs to IP addresses my old one used to do this

Error 403 means you're being blocked somewhere, a VPN could help if it's not a mistake by your ISP

I doubt that the IPTV blocks a subscription to an IP. Most likely they lock it to the Hardware address (aka MAC address) of your previous modem. You might have to let the IPTV host know that it has changed.

Does the new modem have an internet security setting? If do, disable it.
