Is NVIDIA Shield Pro the best device to stream IPTV from?

by jesusinaprius

Hello everyone,

I’m relatively new to IPTV and set my first TV up with an NVIDIA Shield pro which works well. I use Tivimate as the app to run the IPTV from.

My second tv I setup was a newer Sony tv and I downloaded TiVimate directly to the tv and it doesn’t work that well. It lags and buffers quite a bit.

I plan on buying another device and would like to purchase the most powerful device on the market to use to stream IPTV on. Should I continue to use the Nvidia shield pro? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I should probably add that price won’t be an issue.

It’s absolutely the best on the market atm. If you can afford, it’s the gold standard. Just search past posts in this group. For an app use tivimate with the shield.

Abso-FUCKING-lutly! Hands down the best device for IPTV I've owned. I use Tivimate and it is flawless. Any buffer or lag is solely from my provider. No packet buffers at all on this device. Don't waste your $ on others. Get this box!

I have a Shield 2017 and a Firecube and to be honest for straightforward IPTV streaming, there's no difference. What the Shield does give you is a solid Android ecosystem and the knowledge that it's always pretty much up to date. 5yrs later my Shield is still rock solid.

Shield has audio advantages over my Cube with regards DTS HD and DD True HD etc too.

Despite the recent firmware 9 update issues (which did cause me to ractory reset and rebuild my set up), I'd still recommend the Shield. It's that good.

I have a shield, chromecast, and fire stick. They all seem to work as well as the other. I do love my shield though

I used to buy the latest greatest updated boxes then I bought a Shield and haven't looked back...I now have two and they are flawless and powerful and always are updated.

silly question, of course its the best

It's the best streaming device period. It does everything better than any other device. I have them all.

AfroHandsomeBoy

It’s absolutely the best on the market

It’s worth every dime. If you compare it to the outrageous cable tv rates, it pays for itself in a month.

I have two shields and multiple FireTV 4Ks. They all work the same when it comes to streaming IPTV in my house. I like the FireTV sticks because I can take them anywhere and they aren't bulky.

My biggest grip with the FireTV stick is the darn updates that won't allow you to use a custom launcher. That irks me because I hate the stock launcher. You don't have that problem with the Shield.

If money is not an issue....or it falls within your budget....get a shield. If you are scared of the price, get the FireTV and it'll work just fine.

Either way....use Tivimate as your player.

Nvidia Shield tv pro is the only streaming device I’ll use forever. Once you use it you’ll never go back to anything else

Yes, by a long mile.

Shield shield shield nothing else

Nvidia is the best, also check your router (depending on brand) to give Nvidia priority. But no matter what router or streaming box, you have to have a strong single. Just my 2 cents.

Using Xiaomi Mi Stick 4K works flawlessly

If price isn't any issue, then go for the shield. But honestly you won't feel any difference between shield and a okay Android box. I have a shield and also an cheap Chinese Android box (Mecool KM9 Pro). I've been using that Chinese box for about 4 years now, and it's still going strong and I don't notice any difference between that and the shield.

No issues with the Shield but I have found a lot of lagging since the v9 firmware update. I'm using the Firestick Max 4k at the moment with Implayer and tivimate and my preference is now IMplayer.

I'm also looking into the formular z10 pro max and up coming buzz x5 with AI upscaling but I don't think you could beat the Shield as it has all of those features in one box and even works with Alexa so I can turn it on and off with my voice.

Ironically the much cheaper 4k max does most of what the shield does except the AI upscaling but does have limited storage and no lan.
