Hisense Android TV and Tivimate USB recording

by Traherne

I have a Hisense U8G TV and have installed Tivimate on it. I also have Tivimate installed on a Firestick 4K Max attached to the TV.

However, I'd like to be able to use the TV exclusively for IPTV but can't seem to get the system to recognize my USB stick (I've tried several). I've formatted them on my PC (FAT32) and plugged them in as well as formatted them on the TV as removable storage. I can read their contents with a file manager, but that's about it. However, Tivimate gives me a "failed to change directory" error when trying to save the recording directory.

Am I just out of luck? I can continue to use the Firestick as my IPTV system; I just thought it would be nice to consolidate everything into one device.

Thanks in advance.

Why don’t you install Tivimate on Hisense TV itself?

Some TVs have the record function disabled. My Samsung KU7000 is like that. It says it could be used as a recorder for OTA but then later in the manual it says that function is disabled in my country. Why do you want to record the shows? Aren't most shows now posted to Usenet, torrents and other sources?

Don't think its for recording from a 3rd party device. My TCL has a similar function but is only for OTA TV. also it's a like a 10min limit no matter how big the thumb drive is. I use it for pausing live TV or rewinding for a few min. Not for recording a full TV show. Don't know if Hisense is different but I venture to say it's not.
