what is StbEmu?

My parents said they where going to sign up for a illegal tv program. I was just fiddling around with it trying to figure out how to use it and when I went to home I noticed the application is called “StbEmu.” What is StbEmu? How does it work? Explain this to me like I’m 5 I’m so confused.

It’s essentially an Android based program used to open web portals for IPTV streaming.

I think it’s called set box emulator. So instead of getting a set box or android box, you can use this emulator app. Like nox emulator app instead of getting a tablet.
