Taking device on the road

by Yotesol50

I have to travel for a couple weeks and want to take my device with me and use at the hotel. Most hotels you have to log into their WIFI using a browser to enter your name and room number (or something). No just put in a password for the SSID. does anyone have a way to do this? I have tried to download a browser to the device to try to open it up and log in that way but it isn't working. Thanks in advance for your help. Im bored in my hotel room and they don't carry my baseball games.

Pick up a Travel Router. It will allow you to connect to the hotel wifi and then set the wifi on your device to the travel router, not the hotel wifi.

What isn't working when you use the browser? It should automatically take you to the login page (aka captive portal) where you can log in if needed and carry on

Are you sure their internet isn't blocking anything? Try using a VPN or browse to a common website such as Google.com to see if they're blocking access to video streaming

I did find I can share the WiFi connection from my computer that is connected to the hotel WiFi with the device. Seems to be working ok

What's yoir device?

Anyway to use the Hotspot on your phone? Then connect your Device to it instead.

Does your device have an ethernet port? Some hotel rooms still have ethernet cables you can plug in to.

Make a hotspot on your phone?

Had to do this using my FS4K … worked fine, not a problem.

Not a solution but related, Firestick has captive portal log in option.

Forgive me if what I provide doesnt help but What I do to login to hotels is I locate the default gateway IP Address by going into settings and wifi then when I see the hotel network press and hold it (im on android but if you have another device let me know and I can try to find it) then locate what says IP settings and then switch to static then you should be looking for what says gateway (For example my home Gateway which is safe to share is 10.0.0.1) then paste what you got into your browser and logging in to the hotel wifi and your good! Also if your hotel doesnt provide any wifi or they make you pay for it use a hotspot.

Hot-spot your phone you should be able to share your WiFi with your device it will only count as one connection so go nuts
