Lacking some knowledge!

Hi guys so as the title suggests I'm a newbie to IPTV and am lacking some experience and knowledge. I bought a smart TV at Christmas and am using SIPTV app and have paid for a 1 month subscription with iptvquality.com, the main reason I chose them is because they were fast to respond and I could pay with PayPal and not some cyrpto currency, also they did advertise Polish channels for my SO! I am quite happy with the service everything works well, it is fast and seems to always have the channels in want to watch available, my only niggle is that not many of the channels are actually 1080hd alot are 1280 or 720 which is kinda fine but can be a little soft on a 4k screen. Another little annoyance is the now and next is only on some channels but not on others, in your experience is this usual or should I be looking for another provider?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Formuler Z7+ & Vaders Quick Review

Decided to check out the Formuler Z7+ and was able to pick one up from Amazon this week. I'd seen some previous threads mentioning a seller shipping T2 units, but apparently this was an issue with Amazon sending the wrong unit out and has since been resolved (I emailed seller before purchasing) I received the NA version which includes the Z7+, Remote Control, USB WiFi dongle, and an HDMI cable. After hooking the box up and powering it on, it ran through a quick setup guide then began downloading and installing the latest firmware. Next, I got my Vaders sub setup with the MyTVOnline app which was quick and simple enough. I then opened the EPG and here's where the issues began. For some unknown reason, this box loads all EPG data on the fly. This means you have no clue what's on any channel unless you cycle through the guide and wait 5-10 seconds for the info to populate for only the highlighted channels you're looking at. I'd seen some previous complaints about the EPG and they're definitely warranted. For a box with a primary function of streaming IPTV this is a major issue. As to why some sort of caching isn't enabled or the app doesn't just load all EPG data on startup, I can't understand. I'd hope the devs will address and fix this issue as it's very simple to do and to me just seems lazy. Beyond the EPG issues, navigating & loading channels is quick. The quality obviously varies from stream to stream, but it does work well. Vaders offers VOD & Catchup in addition to live TV. I tested the catchup feature which works great. You can tell which channel has catchup available as an icon appears next to the channel in the guide. I moved onto VOD not expecting much, but it's essentially unusable. I tried about 20 different movies, with maybe 2 or 3 loading and playing upon first selection. TV shows were no different. It works so poorly, I'm surprised you're even able to access it. One of the selling points to this box over is its Android capabilities. You have full access to the Google Play store, and with it running Android 7.0, in theory most apps should be compatible. I decided to give Kodi a try. I was able to copy over my HTPC configuration of Kodi after downloading a file browser for the Z7+ and accessing the share via Windows Explorer. I ran into my first snag when I noticed there was only about 550 MB's of storage available on the box, and my Kodi config was much larger. This is the amount of space you'll have available right out of the box. You have the option of expanding the storage via SD card or USB, and I opted for a 64GB Flash drive. After inserting the drive, I rebooted the unit and it combined the storage automatically. I then was able to copy over my Kodi config and it worked! All my addons, preferences, etc were accessible. I tested a few addons in Kodi and the general performance is nothing to write home about. While it is functional, when comparing the speed of loading to my HTPC, the Z7 was much slower. It's by no means unusable, but if you're used to Kodi on a PC like me, you'll be pretty underwhelmed. Using the Vaders TV app in Kodi worked well and the entire EPG loaded in a matter of seconds. Changing channels wasn't as quick as the MyTVOnline Player, but no real complaints other than that to report. VOD in Kodi also worked without any issues as well. Finally, I installed and tested Perfect Player via the Google Play store which worked perfect! In summary, I honestly cannot recommend this box. The EPG issue is an absolute KILLER, and I'm quite surprised they've yet to address it. Combine that with the fact you'll be paying around $150 for this and I just don't see the value there. For an extra $20 - $30 you could pick up an NVidia Shield which boasts more memory, a faster processor, Bluetooth connectivity, and is capable of doing everything the Z7+ does minus the one app you're really paying for in the Z7+ with MyTVOnline. Even if you don’t want to splurge for the Shield, a Mag box for strictly IPTV, or a budget HTPC would suit you much better. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask away!

Buzztv remote

Anyone have or know of a way to use a keypad on your Android phone to input data on the buzztv? I thought I had solved my issue with the CETUS app but the keypad doesn't work, could only get a number pad and basic remote functions. It's not running Android TV sadly so Android TV remote won't work. I downloaded a plethora of other apps but all semmed to rely on the device having Android TV. I'm really liking the box but it's painful having to type with the arrow keys and navigating the play store and other things become tedious when having to switch to mouse mode.

Upgrade my Mag 254. Any difference in speed?

So Im seeing all these new Mags coming out from infomir. I would like to get a 4k box. I like the Mag because of it's simplicity. no messing around. have a server. stick with it, simple. The android and KODI was IMO a pain in the neck with all installs here and there. I run iptvexpress and have tried probably 5-6 other providers. Most of them are buffering and slow and from where I'm sitting express is the fastest (given the selection of channels and their great catch back of a week) I'm sitting on a 50MBs line and the box is hardwired so shouldnt really be an issue

I does work decent with HD. So for you that have upgraded from a 254 to a newer mag. What box did you go with? Did you notice a difference in speed/load times. I know that it mostly depends on my cable but im stuck with the evil att and 50mbs is their fastest non fiber

Looking to trial a few providers - but tell me WHY your recommendation is best

Transparency - I sell a few android boxes on the side, nothing to make a career off of, but I enjoy doing it. I've never offered or recommended an IPTV service to my customers as I've never needed it and they've never really asked.

Lately, people are asking for my suggestions and I don't have any.

I want to trial a few - free or cheap trials are OK (free is always better!).

I know I'll get people saying "GO WITH XYZ THEY ROCK!" - that's not helpful. What's been your experience with your provider? How's the channel lineup? How do they compare? How long have you been with them? What makes them different?

The one thing I'm genuinely apprehensive about is: take a popular provider like Vaders... there are 50 resellers it would seem. How do you choose a reseller, and can you buy services directly from the 'source'? Why/why not?

START HERE: How to select an IPTV Provider Primer: Best practices and general guidelines to selecting an IPTV provider that works best for you

If you expect and want channels with 100% uptimes then IPTV is not for you. You are better off with Sling TV or PS Vue or something similar or sticking with your current cable or satellite service.

We are seeing many of the same kinds of posts show up here time and time again. For example: Find me one with US channels, find me one that has the sports I am looking for, or find me a specific channel in a specific language. Below is an attempt to consolidate the normal responses given to people who requests for assistance.

First and foremost, DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE HERE. If you post a request for IPTV provider recommendations, you will surely get re sellers and providers pimping their warez. There are many providers and resellers shilling their product here. I do not have to name specific usernames but if you been here long enough you will see certain providers propped up here time and time again.

If you post a request for an IPTV providers, you will surely get re sellers and providers pimping their warez (repeating this again for emphasis)

My best advice is to do your own research. Start by reading here https://www.reddit.com/r/IPTVReviews/ Then Google research the provider you are interested in, then join the provider forums and a READ as much as you can.

IPTV has many variables affecting the stability of the channels

  • Source channels providers (content generators) <--- Your provider is only as good as the content generators. Not much you as a customer can do here.
  • IPTV provider this is who you are looking for
  • ISP <--- they might throttle you which might require a VPN. They might block the IPTV provider all together using something like. Sky Shield or BT websafe. You want to disable these blockers. I see people saying they have a gigabit link but still buffering.. Sorry it's most likely you. You have a gigabit link to the next hop and thats about it. A provider that buffers usually does not last long. Customers will leave in droves.... so chances are it is probably your issue.
  • Customer Network <---- Your home network might not be up to par. Do you have wifi/wired? Do you live in a apartment building with a lot of WIFI competition? Get a wired link.
  • Customer device <--- is your device underpowered? An old enigma or a cheap android box might not cut it for HD or FHD.
  • Customer application<--- is it updated or have known bugs? VLC is the best test application on a wired computer.

This means what works for someone may not work for you. A certain provider may work great for one person (most likely a shill) but it may not work well for you.

… which leads us to TRIALS

TRIALS TRIALS TRIALS

Do as many as you can.

Keep in mind, the larger and probably more established provider will not offer free trials since they do not have inventive to. Out of a hundred trials they get maybe 1 reals sub. So out of that free 100 trials is countless request for help and configuration help that yields to wasted effort. A nominal cost ($2 USD to $5 USD) for trial for the bigger more established providers is normal.

Resellers and newer providers do offer free trials but usually on the weekday since they are trying to establish their base.

WEEKEND TRIALS are usually never free due to the large amount of sporting events on.

As some many have mentioned, instead of doing trials, buy a month at one provider then go to another provider.and cycle through them .. after about 4 months or so you will be an expert.

What do I look for?

CHANNELS Definitely do not go with providers who got 5000 channels. Let me give you a hint, you will not watch all 5000 channels. You will not watch Disney JR in Greek. No provider will give you high uptimes on all channels if they have to maintain 5000 channels. Go for a provider more targeted for your needs and language (500-2000 channels) is optimal.

VOD

Do they offer VOD/ondemand as an additional service? Is the selection deep? Is the shows in your language? Can you request new VODs be added?

SD OPTIONS Wooo hoo my provider has all FHD channels! and you will buffer all day everyday until your subscription expires. Keep in mind if you watch on your mobile you want a provider with some SD options. If you have data transfer caps you will want SD channels. FHD/HD left on is a crap load of traffic. Ideally ones that have HD and SD options for your favorite channels.

SUPPORT How responsive is your provider? Do they respond quickly? Do they treat you fairly? Are they reasonable? Do they provide channel or VOD requests? Do they fulfill these requests? Do they help you configure your device and offers post purchase support help?

COMMUNITY Do they have a community of other users that can help each other with support and tips and tricks or does your IPTV provider leave you isolated on an island. I see people come here to ask question they should be asking their provider directly.

PRIVACY Are they protecting your privacy? Do they need your personal information Facebook Support group? AVOID if possible. Facebook requires you to request help with you real information. Do you want your Aunt Sally asking why you are posting to "HellonEarthHOSTINGSolutions"? Facebook tracks all your post to request help on IPTV. IMHO, it is plain lazy on the providers part to only have Facebook.

Can you pay with a prepaid card? How about crypto currency?

ISP BLOCKED AND TARGETED PROVIDERS Does the service require VPN during EPL matches? Are providers actively throttling the provider? If a provider has been on the news (of any kind) do you really want to sign up with them?

I have 0 idea what I'm doing - I want to get my parents Chinese TV somehow. Please help?

Hi all,

Trying to get my parents Chinese television (Mandarin) from the mainland. Europe/UK based Chinese channels are... ok too I guess? but primarily CCTV, Phoenix, and other major mainland channels.

Not being able to read mandarin, I have a difficult time trying to figure this out, and not being technical, so do my parents :P

I'm looking at KyLinTV, and I don't mind dropping money on a sub... as long as it's LITERALLY idiot proof.

I have to really emphasise this last point:

It NEEDS to be so easy to use, that a 2 year old could do it. That's the level of technology competence I'm talking about here.

They have a Chromecast, an iPad (some old one, pre-retina), android phone, and a TVPad 3 (which I think... is an expensive paperweight that they never got to use).

Could someone please walk me through this?

Thank you :)

Formuler Z7+ NA version

What are the differences between EU and NA version?

Currently in Amazon-US Z7+ is included with the Premium-remote-control not the Learning-remote-control.And also doesn't include Remote Control Extender. Going to order one, so was thinking what we are missing in NA version, any big issue to run the box.

I know nothing about IPTV, looking for advice.

I’m trying to cut down on cable costs and am hearing good things about IPTV. I’m primarily looking for Sports/PPV and US TV is this an option?

I should mention i’m located in Australia so internet speed is...not great. Also i’ve read that many services use crypto currency as payment. While I understand it, I have no intention of using it. Is that ok?

Lastly would I need a VPN to access streams/channels from overseas?

Any help is appreciated.
