IPTV noob requesting assistance

Hello All

Long time lurker here and on IPTV Reviews. I currently have the standard cable/internet setup but I'm tired of paying for cable, useless channels, no content, good channels behind paywalls (like HD channels etc) and I barely watch TV nowadays since I have little time

I have browsed this sub for a while, read reviews online, checked some other sites, etc. But the more I search, the more I browse, the more I read, the more confused I am. I was hoping someone here can clarify some things for me if it's not too much trouble

  1. Using a VPN is a must, no problem there. However can I use the VPN just on the device that I will be using for IPTV? Due to work restrictions I cannot use a VPN for all my connections as I work at home and need my own countrys IP address
  2. Coming from the previous question. If possible I would like to avoid having to use my PC to stream. I would like a device 4k capable and a bit cheap (the idea is to save money from the cable service after all) so I was thinking about the Roku or the Fire stick. What are the differences between using USB and HDMI connections? Is there one that has HDMI and wired ethernet connection?
  3. Are there devices that have a regular web browser? I have some local channels I like to watch and they are definitely not going to be on a provider (I live in a small country)
  4. With the small country in mind, is it possible to use services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu with a VPN as if you were in the US? Is it recommended? Or perhaps just an IPTV provider is more than enough?
  5. On the provider side, are there ones that only provide a "small" set of channels and mostly movies? I really don't think I would watch the local news channel from Netherlands. Can I pay for only the channels I want?

I would like an experience as close to "regular TV watching" as possible. Thanks for reading and responding

Best IPTV app that uses MAC addresses on Nvidia Shield?

Hiya,

The IPTV package I'm thinking of getting, needs a MAC address, and so I'm looking for an app on the Shield that allows this. Looked at Smart IPTV, but the gui (epg) looks a bit bland to me. Would like something similar to PP, but apparently you can't use MAC addresses with that.

Any suggestions please?

[REQUEST] Complete newb guide: IPTV via EMBY on a VPS

If I understand correctly, Emby (the media center software) can take .m3u playlists (channel lists) and turn them into a searchable guide with DVR capability. And I know that, in theory, you can setup Emby on a VPS (which would, I think, help avoid throttling and eliminate the need for a VPN).

But I'm tech challenged and my efforts to make something like this happen failed miserably (I tried with a couple of free trials).

Is there a guide or are any of you cord cutting/streaming geniuses interesting in making one for us newbs?

EPG Recommendation

Hi, I'm looking for an alternative EPG source and I know there are few out there such as xtream, iptv-epg, etc.. Please recommend based on experience which one of these services has the least down time and most accurate info to populate on tivimate/pp. i know xtream is a famous one but it seems the setup process is very time consuming and complicated would be nice to share any manual or guide available for it. Thx

BeastTV not working on new Shield 8.0 update

Keeps crashing when trying to start. Any ideas?

Edit: Got it working with an uninstall of the old beast app and installing the app again. This is quite a bit different than the other version. It looks nice but navigation feels more difficult.

Perfect Player not showing up in apps

So I was having issues with perfect player crashing and always having to restart it. So I deleted it and reinstalled it and now the app does not show up in my recent apps or my apps when I look for it.

But when I go to settings and then applications it shows up there and I can launch from there. Anyone know why the shortcut isn’t showing up on the home screen or under my apps?

Are Formuler Devices Worth It?

I've been running with a MAG256 for over a year now & although I've had little issues with it, the lack of being able to run additional apps (Plex, Netflix etc) from within the same unit has always been a bit of a niggling issue for me. I also am experiencing ISP blackouts during Saturday afternoons (due to UK ISP/Premier League blocks) & was going to have to look towards purchasing a new VPN-capable router to circumvent this as the MAG does not offer a VPN client natively.

After looking in this sub this morning, I've suddenly been informed about the Formuler Z7+/Z8 devices which seem to be universally liked by the IPTV community here.

However when I look, they seem to just be Android TV boxes - similar to what Facebook used to be full of during the big Kodi craze a couple of years ago. And on paper, the specs of the Z8 seem to pale in comparison to some of the other (much cheaper) Android boxes on offer - especially where RAM is concerned.

Can anyone distinguish/explain the differences for me? I'd be interested in making the move from MAG, as the devices should run Plex/Netflix/VPN client natively - but I'm concerned that at only 2GB RAM, the experience could be slow and sluggish. And I'm approaching with caution as I don't really want to outlay ~£100 on something that is going to give a poor experience.

Can anyone recommend another good player? Or a fix for this issue. Thanks.

IPTV Smarters Issue

I installed IPTV Smarters on my Samsung Tv to use Ummo and I noticed that I get way less options when it comes to anything compared to Ummo on Sony Tv’s in my house. For instance I can search, I can’t turn subtitles on or off, and I can’t change the audio language. How would I even do this? I tried going to the settings but all it does is let me go to Parental Control or Stream Format.

Best hardware for simple TV-like experience?

I'm completely new to IPTV and I'm feeling overwhelmed by the hardware choices. I don't need a bunch of extra apps. I'm just looking for a streamlined TV-like experience with all of the channels that I can surf through without too much lag and a program guide.

Can anyone help me out with recommendations? Thanks!

I need a super simple solution for a stb

I want a very simple set top box solution that can be plugged in to HDMI1 on a TV and that has a super simple interface so that someone who isn't tech savvy at all can use it. My thinking is, if they know to turn on the TV and can then just navigate around live TV channels (don't want anything else) that'd be great. I want to be able to configure/limit the channels they have access to to keep it as simple as possible.

Can anyone recommend a hardware solution that can do this? Thanks!

Still looking for Russian IPTV, no luck yet

I have posted asking for suggestions a couple of times, sorry I am doing it again. Need an IPTV provider, hopefully not too expensive. I need it only for Russian TV, many channels if possible. I had tested one service with 200+ and it was good, channels were up, good quality and very fast to switch channels. But I have lost contact with the seller.

If the service has German channels too, I will be maybe interested in 2 connections.
